4/ The Inquiryβs focus now turns to writing and publishing the Chairβs remaining conclusions and recommendations. The Module 3 βHealthcareβ report is out in just a fortnight. Baroness Hallett expects the implementation of all the Inquiryβs recommendations promptly and in full.
3/ Around 380 witnesses heard. Over 58,000 personal stories gathered. More than 5 million pages of evidence reviewed.
2/ Inquiry Secretary Ben Connah writes in The Guardian why this Inquiry is so important, reflecting on its work so far, what is to come, and why the time for action is now.
1/ "The hearings are over. The remaining reports are coming. Change must happen. The public, hit so hard by the pandemic, deserves nothing less."
2/ The Chair has stressed the importance of ensuring all her recommendations are implemented to reduce the number of deaths, reduce the suffering and reduce the economic cost to the country in the event of another pandemic.
1/ Today, the Chair has closed the final day of public hearings with a statement. She thanks those who have contributed to the Inquiry's investigations.
Today marks the end of the Inquiryβs public hearings, but the Inquiry's work is not done.
It now turns its focus to publishing the remaining reports and recommendations.
