I watched Mad Men in its entirety a couple of years ago and was struck by the very start by how utterly pathetic every male character is, but the discourse around it as it aired is Don Draper is awesome, Roger Sterling is a badass, aren't the costumes amazing etc
Today's discourse about Breaking Bad did reignite some Thoughts I've had the last couple of years about the generally awful media literacy towards tv antiheroes during the early/mid 00s.
It would have helped greatly if Breaking Bad had a character, let's say a Fixer of sorts whose entire purpose is to guide people through the criminal world, yell directly into Walter's face about how he's an egomaniacal moron who can't see past his pride and ego
