Love how Robinhood isn’t pretending day trading isn’t gambling anymore as they advertise trading “sport events contracts” to me on YouTube.

Ask yourself “helpers for WHAT?” and the answer to that question will give you a better file name (or at least a starting point)
Please dear god I beg of you stop naming files “utils” or “helpers”. At least naming the file “zoinks” will keep me entertained when I discovered THATS where the load bearing source code is hiding.
Oh nice four more incidents today! And the workday isn’t even over in NA!
ALSO... Our parents were right: it's the damn phones.
I think it's time to migrate, or at least mirror, my repositories to another forge. I'm sure that'll really stick it to Microsoft 🙄
I went to GitHub's status page to see how many incidents they'd had this month (19 btw) only to see that they had THREE INCIDENTS just today.
I feel sorry for whoever they have on-call. Who needs an alarm clock when you've got PagerDuty and you work at GitHub!
yeah who's building this??!?!?!?
If you, like me, think New Year's resolutions kinda suck, I have some good news. There's a better way: jordanseiler.xyz/posts/2026-0...
Buuut now that this is published it means I succeeded in posting at least one post a month for all of 2025! I didn't intend on doing that, which is probably why I was able to do it.
Lest anyone get disappointed, I didn't end up writing about the benchmarking because I completely ran out of patience with this project. Writing up play-by-play style commentary on your development process turns out to be ridiculously time consuming.
After seven months of procrastination, I've finally finished the last part in my Southern Food and Graph Theory series: jordanseiler.xyz/posts/2025-1...
At this point "Southern Food and Memory Optimization and also Benchmarking Things for 4 Hours" would've been a better title.
On vacation, so I have the mental space to think about rap lyrics.

Which, in fairness, describes most languages. That said, I’m still having trouble wrapping my mind around Go’s “nil” and automatically zero’d values.
Currently going through all the stages of grief learning #golang
It has a certain enigmatic appeal but writing it occasionally feels like walking barefoot on legos.
We have to completely destroy the AI industry

my spouse and my children think i’m a sad nerd for letting my enjoyment of the novel i’m reading, set in 1789, be ruined by anachronisms such as its protagonist using “access” as a verb, the first known instance of which appeared in 1953. i don’t disagree with them.
Posted some thoughts about my two-month trial of Ghost. I'm glad to be back using a static site generator, but that's just because Ghost wasn't suited to my purpose.

Teaser of an upcoming project I've started instead of finishing the projects I already have.
Sharing some new reading materials while we all try to stave off a turkey-induced coma: jordanseiler.xyz/posts/2025-1...
One of the most useful things I learned this year is that Parmesan cheese starts to split at about 180F. If you make a lot of pasta like me, letting it cool a bit before adding cheese is a must!
ME: no idea why I’m having so much trouble getting to sleep lately
ALSO ME:
My hot take is that preheating is a myth by Big Oven to shorten the lifecycle of appliances.
No I don’t make many baked goods, how did you know?
This looks great!
Just finished up this prototype for Beach Chummers: a game about feeding trash to seagulls, so you can have a nice day at the beach!
It's free and you can play it in your browser

NEW RAMBLINGS: jordanseiler.xyz/posts/2025-1...
I recently returned to weightlifting, and got a bee in my bonnet a week ago about AI "research" and people saying "here's what ChatGPT said when I asked it...". This latest post is the result.
me in theory: dev containers sound so cool!
me in practice: this barely works and took all day to get going
And as many bad feelings as I have about LLMs, they’re actually quite good at giving you reading lists or entry points into an area of research, after which you can do everything yourself.
