🚨Development Economists!🚨Do you use Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS Program) data, which had been supported by USAID? IPUMS ( @ipums.bsky.social ) and the UN Statistics Division have a survey for you. I just filled it out. You can too. #econsky

Good day to remember that a US President has no inherent power over tariffs whatsoever. It’s not like war powers or pardons. It’s entirely delegated by Congress to deal with emergencies. GOP Congress cld modify that law tonight and bring this to a screeching halt.

If you considered posting something critical of the Trump regime but then decided against due to fear for retaliation, then you are no longer living in a democracy.

Nice to see this in print in The Journal of Urban Economics. How do official Chinese-funded infrastructure projects diffuse economic activity in developing countries? The strongest effects are in least-developed regions and near cities. 1/2 www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Fascinating paper on where 6000 global elites went to college. Billionaires, CEOs, heads of state, central bankers, etc.

In a word: Harvard.

Fully 10% of global elites went to Harvard. Elite US schools are over-represented (23% IvyPlus), but nobody comes close to Harvard.

This estimate, per WaPo, sure makes it look like voters under 30 and Gen Xers didn't shift to Trump so much as just not show up for Harris, full stop.

Patriarchy means men don’t get to choose what they want either. "Men’s low share of care work does not necessarily reflect their preferences. When jobs grant greater freedoms, men choose to care for their kids." from @draliceevans.bsky.social open.substack.com/pub/dralicee...
