We should have a made a world where giving a child a tablet was as wholesome and enriching as giving them Encarta 95 or a stack of DK books.
I still don't entirely understand why we failed.

It likely goes beyond convenience. You can also simply do more with an AR device than you can with a watch. Is that increased scope of possibilities what makes it more than just a fun toy?
Phone, watch...really not all that different. It's the same action required of me, with the watch being somewhat more convenient. What Apple has me thinking about now is: would an AR device be that much more convenient that it becomes more than just a fun toy? In theory yes, but in practice TBD
Have been thinking about AR and wearables with the Apple news this week. I have a Pixel watch. I like it. But it's more of a fun toy than a must have. Mostly because to get the information I need, I still need to move a body part and look at a screen
If this is a step towards eventually having something more portable, then I'm all for it. An affordable, consumer version of something like this is what I'm really looking forward to: https://youtube.com/watch?v=lj0bFX9HXeE
But...we needed the Roadster before we got the Model 3
Agree on design being a key way of creating distinction. Though design = marketing is more of an old school approach. I think there's a trend of design being at the table much earlier in the product development process, and that inclusion is part of what enables design to be a real differentiator
Just bought the book for my dad. From what I've heard, be really does try to be evidence-based in everything he does
Such a simple point but this is such a banger

To buy Diablo IV or to not buy Diablo IV...
Never thought of it this way... Will have to give them a try sometime
Started a new job this week. Every day in life is a blank canvas, but starting a new job is an especially fun blank canvas. Good times ahead
I try to avoid categorizing people and instead try to categorize their behaviors. IME this makes it easier to find common ground with people. I also do believe there should be room for forgiveness, redemption, and self improvement. Labeling the behavior instead of the person helps with this
You should make your GC!
This is why being a GC admin can be so difficult. I know exactly what you're talking about...I've seen annoying people ruin the vibe. But having varying levels of "expertise" in a GC can be very good IME, especially when the relatively less informed are not afraid to ask great questions
Silly is good for the soul
I'm not seeing this at all...is it because I'm avoiding the what's hot tab? I was getting some annoying noise particularly when Tucker got fired, but I just liberally unfollowed people who were talking about stuff that I wasn't interested in seeing on my feed
I'm curious to see how the power capacity part develops. In that old xos video you'll notice a giant power cord attached. Portable fusion batteries when
Damn, and here I was assuming it was from some cool transhumanism fashion show. What a time to be alive
Super cool. Where are these from?
Day 2 of funemployment and it feels amazing
Give Jocko Go a try if you haven't already
How much do you think exoskeletons have progressed since this? https://youtu.be/-UpxsrlLbpU
The Experimenters sounds fantastic. Adding that to my queue
In my darkest "it's over," I found within me, an inextinguishable "we are so back"
Love this energy
Kinda solarpunk ish too
I value the amount of time I spent training as a competitive athlete in my younger years. It's what largely enabled my sense of optimism and resilience. This is me circa 2010
Thanks! Saw this but didn't see any previous 2023 events on their page, so I assumed this wasn't it. I'll take a look
Sounds cool, can you send a link to the event or the org that runs it?
