How comes Saudi Arabia (and perhaps others) haven't built excess pipeline and port capacity so that oil doesn't need to go through the Strait of Hormuz? Very expensive, yes. But would remove lots of Iranian leverage(?), and not like SA is knowing for their penny pinching.

This is a good analogy. Very useful in carefully controlled settings for specific usages, but unfortunately being widely inserted into everything and used without training or PPE and poisoning a lot of things and people and we’re going to pay a tonne of money to remove it safely in the future

It seems to me that if this exercise was done under the same premises in a double loaded dual stair building it could be a real mess.

Like every single Swedish apartment building is single stair. I sure they exist, but don't think I have ever been in a Swedish double loaded corridor building. So it works just fine for developers.
Importantly allowing single stair gives more options on maximizing usage.

A colleague has work bifocal glasses just for this. "reading" part in the bottom (I guess this is 40-70cm) and "terminal" in the upper (I guess this is 80-140cm).
Works well for him (except the times he has his normal bifocals on and can't see the screen without changing).

Evidence shows that London-wide, cycling infrastructure is effective in reducing risk exposure:  Protected cycling infrastructure reduces injury risk to people cycling by 40-65%.  Around 33% of all cycling in London occurs on Cycleways, but only 15% of cycle casualties.  76% of people cycling feel safe on Cycleways compared to 40% feeling safe on other roads.  70% of Cycleway users felt safer after the introduction of the Cycleway.

Road safety factors are more likely to be attributed to the driver of (recorded in 2024) the other vehicle than people cycling, with three of top five factors relating to behaviour of other drivers. • People cycling undertaking an illegal turn and/or not complying with traffic lights is a factor in only 3.7% of all collisions resulting in a cycling fatal or serious injury (same prevalence as drivers undertaking illegal turns and/or not complying with traffic lights).

A 2023 analysis showed that in the 2016-22 period, we saw a greater reduction in risk in boroughs where the Cycleway network expanded the most. Conversely, risk increased most in boroughs with no or limited investment in Cycleways.

Uten at jeg vet noe om disse, så er vel et stort problem med mindre turbiner at de ikke holder godt nok. Mye nedetid og høy servicekostnad er en dårlig kombinasjon for billig strøm.

In Oslo - battery electric busses with overnight charging only since a few years back - they ran into major problems because heating consumed lot of the alredy reduced charge in really cold weather. I think the major lesson learned was that a backup liquid fuel heater is very useful.
