A mystery plant just showed up in the garden. I was about to rip it out as a weed, but it had flower buds on it. I have been trying to fill in spots with wildflowers, so this could be something I tossed into the garden last year. I'll wait until it blooms to decide. #wildflowers #garden

This week has been crazy warm, but I haven't gotten much done in the yard. Between allergies and a very sick cat, I just didn't have the energy.

I can see how an author would be interested. Summaries of previous books in a series for readers to catch up before the next one comes out, for one. But is it really a closed system? Is there any way to prove your work isn't being absorbed beyond the initial intent?

We got a new kitty from the Humane Society, 10 years old. Apparently she has bone problems, maybe arthritis. She can't crouch very well. We put her food up on yoga blocks and it really helps her. Weren't using the block anyway.

This was very helpful. As a small author who watched book sales plummet this year, I was frozen with indecision about how to react. Yay - don't buy my books from *them*, and Yikes - the royalties are flatlining. Still on the fence about FB advertising. It's making a tough job so complicated.

I thought I might be the only one bothered by that! My time is stacked, hours over minutes and this old brain takes a minute to iron it out and understand that 03 over 03 is 3 minutes past 3 o'clock. Ugh. I've searched, but can't change it on my Moto(something).

The other day I woke up with a little tune in my head. It took me a minute to realize it was the jingle the clothes dryer plays when the cycle is done...

Well, I guess that's a relief!

I saw ads for this on TV and if you don't solve it the king gets killed. Sorry. Right now I don't want to see even a cartoon character being crushed to death. Big nope for me.

Saw a discounted ebook in the Bookbub newsletter that caught my eye. I prefer Kobo, so went over there to check for it.

Huh...the $1.99 book is #3.

Book 1 is $12.99 for the ebook... That's a nope for a new-to-me author. Bummer.

I haven't been writing. Feeling a bit overwhelmed by the shape of the world right now. So I've been hiding in my hobbies - gardening in the afternoon and genealogy in the chilly mornings. It's soothing. But I'm hoping to get back on track soon.

Donated to my local foodbank yesterday. It was something I could do and was meaning to do and finally made it happen. I'll try to give them money every month as long as I can.

Nail polish remover. That's what sugar ants smell like when you squash them. I got a faint whiff once in my bedroom and discovered they had come in the window colonized the curtain rod. An icky discovery.

It's interesting to see how a suddenly popular sub/micro/mini-genre balloons and starts poking into everything else. I think the industry is still recovering from all the gatekeepers narrowing down our options. For awhile it was all vampires, then shifters, now superheroes. It'll swing around again.
