Mae’r Llwchwr yn afon De Cymru a fu unwaith yn wynebu rhai o’r llygredd diwydiannol gwaethaf.
Ond tra oedd ei ddŵr yn rhedeg yn ddu gyda llwch glo yn ystod y dydd, roedd pysgotwyr dewr yn dal sewin mawr yn y nos.

The Llwchwr (Loughor) is a South Wales river that once faced some of the worst industrial pollution.
But while its waters ran black with coal dust during the day, intrepid anglers were still catching large sewin (sea trout) at night.

EDF Consultation: Material Change to Hinkley Point C's Development Consent Order - Afonydd Cymru
February 2024
We and West Wales Rivers Trust, South East Wales Rivers Trust and @wyeusk.bsky.social were among the many organisations that argued that EDF’s case for excluding the deterrents was flawed.
It is good to see the right decision has finally been made.

EDF Consultation: Material Change to Hinkley Point C's Development Consent Order - Afonydd Cymru
February 2024
Ni a Ymddiriedolaethau Afonau Gorllewin Cymru, Dwyrain De Cymru ac @wyeusk.bsky.social oedd ymysg y nifer o sefydliadau a ddaeth i'r casgliad bod achos EDF dros hepgor y rhwystrwyr yn amhriodol.
Mae'n braf gweld bod y penderfyniad cywir wedi cael ei wneud yn y diwedd.

UK’s first-ever plan to tackle 'forever chemicals'
New framework will protect public health and the environment from risks posed by PFAS.
Welsh Government has committed to at least matching EU standards for environmental legislation.
And Europe is moving towards a total ban of these chemicals.
Defra should not drag Wales backwards in its environmental protection.

Defra's plan to tackle ‘forever chemicals’ is the latest example of why Wales needs devolved powers for water.
Despite being labelled as a plan for the UK, all the actions proposed are for England.
And weak actions they are too.

UK’s first-ever plan to tackle 'forever chemicals'
New framework will protect public health and the environment from risks posed by PFAS.
Mae Llywodraeth Cymru wedi ymrwymo i gyfateb o leiaf safonau'r UE ar gyfer deddfwriaeth amgylcheddol.
Ac mae Ewrop yn symud tuag at waharddiad llwyr ar y cemegau hyn.
Dylai Defra beidio â thynnu Cymru yn ôl yn ei warchodaeth amgylcheddol.

Mae cynllun Defra i fynd i'r afael â 'chemegau tragwyddol' yn esiampl ddiweddaraf o pam mae angen pwerau datganoledig i Gymru ar gyfer dŵr.
Er gwaethaf cael ei labelu fel cynllun ar gyfer y DU, mae'r holl gamau a gynigir ar gyfer Lloegr. Ac mae'n gamau gwannach hefyd.

Welsh river running brown due to excessive soil loss in its catchment.
Good soil health = lower risk of erosion.
Sadly, we have again witnessed scenes of soil washing into rivers this winter, smothering river gravels and bringing all kinds of pollutants with it.

In November, the Economy, Trade and Rural Affairs Committee produced a report on soil health in Wales.
Amongst other things, it raised concerns about what soil-improving incentives were in place for tenant farmers and those farms choosing to remain outside the Sustainable Farming Scheme.

Could “Bridges to the Future” be a sign that NRW are moving in the right direction?
It could be.
However, we have seen this kind of evidence and expressed intent before. Actions speak louder than words and actions are what this initiative will be judged on ultimately.

The regulator claims that systemic change is needed if Wales’s natural resources are to be safeguarded and that incremental improvements are no longer enough.
And NRW’s CEO stated in SoNaRR that “What we need now is the will to act, and to do so boldly and decisively.”
