Authors: do you tip for service providers (editing, cover design, etc)??? Are we supposed to?
I’m Aussie, so it’s not a thing here. But I got an invoice today which defaulted to adding a tip. (Which is fine) But i don’t know what’s expected. HALP ME NOT OFFEND PEOPLE!
It’s release day for book FIFTEEN in my series. And all 15 feature the SAME couple.
And right now (barely past 9am) it’s 312 in the entire Amazon store 🙏😭
Series sell, fam. Series capture a reader and take them on a long, deep dive into beloved characters’ lives. Don’t be afraid of a long series.
Did I start a new book today?
Yes, I did.
Did I write 10,500 words and fall helplessly, stupidly in love?
Also yes. 😭
Me: plotting my next book. (And not enjoying it.)
My kid: have you considered making all the characters sing??
Author tips: trademarking your name.
Should you? Your choice.
Is it easy? Get a lawyer to do it.
Is it cheap? In Aus, I paid about $10k total. I believe it’s much cheaper in the US.
Is it a must? No. But it could be a very smart business move future-you thanks you for.

For 320ish days a year, I’m begging for more hours to get things done.
For the 40ish days of summer break, where the kids are home from school and I’m waking at 3am, going to bed late, tying up loose ends, so I can dedicate waking hours to the kids….
That’s where those other hours sneak off to. 😮💨
