I was almost this kid in the early 90’s. I caught measles at 10 months, about a month before you get the first vaccine booster. I ended up with measles induced pneumonia and had to be oxygen tented in the child’s ICU for 6 months. I still have scars on my lungs from it now at 36. Fuck antivaxxers.

It makes my heart hurt so much that this is the world they have to live in. It’s just such a universal failure. Children shouldn’t have to be thinking about this kind of shit.

Like honestly, how could a random selection from the entire population actually be worse than this lol

There is a political philosophy that claims this is a decent way to run things instead of holding elections. It’s called sortition.

Happiness is luck. It’s being fortunate in the moment and so, being fortunate, you feel happy. No one can be happy always as one isn’t fortunate always. And if one was, eventually the happiness would become monotonous and thus not happy. So I just try to enjoy the luck, at least while it lasts!

No, that’s when he was found. How he got into the situation where ICE could abandon him is because a woman reported him walking around her house because he got lost on his walk. Buffalo police responded and arrested him for carrying a β€œweapon”, the curtain rod he used a walking stick.

I nearly got thrown out a comic book shop as 14yr old for using β€œthat’s gay” as a pejorative in the grand old year of… 2004. Anyone still using that as a turn of phrase 22 years later is Doing So On Purpose.

ICE are the same as the police, just given less controls. Every local PD would absolutely be shooting people more if they thought they could.

25.02.2026 21:27 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

It’s the same problem. Only reason ICE could leave him to die is because Buffalo PD charged him with Assault w/Dangerous Weapon for having a curtain rod as a walking stick and not immediately dropping it when commanded to as he doesn’t speak English. He plead out to a lesser charge and ICE took him.

This is kind of the issue or problem with dicussing ADHD is that most of the symptoms are still things most people have issues with. Just with ADHD they’re like 10x louder and/or persistent.

25.02.2026 18:42 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

For me that was just unmedicated ADHD lol. Regular procrastination is just not wanting to have to do it and so putting it off. What you’re describing is an executive dysfunction/inability to start which is a classic ADHD symptom.

Same haha. 37 now, visited DC once when I was 16 and it took me back instantly.

I’ve brought it up with some folks but it’s a slow and difficult process. We live in a Ruby Red state and have comparatively good benefits/pay compared to most of the state. So folks are scared to do anything to jeopardize that. The nickel and diming of the parking bit just sticks in my craw lol.

I’m a county employee. I work IN the county building/courthouse. We have a parking garage for the county building/courthouse complex right next door. I have to pay $98/mo to park in said garage that is fully owned/operated by my employer. Because capitalism we gotta extract every $. It’s maddening.

Implicit in this comparison is that AI hyperscaling is as useful or important as those other things… and it’s just not. The tech has not proven it’s usefulness which is why it is a giant moneypit.

I know a lot of people may rag on this kind of thing as performative, but honestly we need it. We need to see public servants modeling virtue and service again, we need it badly!

To our absolute shame as a profession, he is the consummate lawyer. He is willing to argue with absolute conviction about anything, for anyone who pays him.

They made a Gillette ad called β€œShave Impact” lol. It is absolutely in our blood at this point.

I feel like the old adage works here in that restriction breeds creativity. The fact that they are working within a defined space means they have to adapt to it or force the genre to adapt to what they have to say. And either method makes for interesting results.

Fruit toppings predate tomato sauce by centuries. Italy had to get tomatoes from North America which didn’t happen until the 1600’s. Meanwhile a proto-pizza with figs and dates was even eaten by the ancient Romans.

Had a player play something like this in my Rokugan (Legend of 5 Rings world) campaign. He was a convicted smuggler and slaver who was β€œexecuted” by having his arms wrapped in steel and thrown into the sea. A functionary of the Celestial Bureaucracy saved his life in exchange for his service.

Coding should be the slam-dunk mode for an LLM. Formalized use of specific words and syntax which are reproducible across different uses, etc. So I’m not shocked if it ever gets to be decent at coding. It’s still dogshit for all the other ways they’re trying to shove it down our throats.

Kid he punched got suspended for just as long for using Ray-Ban Meta glasses on school grounds to improperly record his classmates/teachers. So double whammy there.

My family used Huffines in Lewisville for decades back when the only dealership the dad had was the Chevy one. Good service and didn’t rip us off. I can’t imagine him buying up all the dealerships between there and Denton did any favors toward the quality though…

Thread forum where one Magic the Gathering player questions if eating in-game food tokens during Ramadan is haram.

Second poster jokes about a possible game scenario:
β€œOk no player played a spell this turn so it turns to night.”

β€œAlhamdulillah. Sacrifice Bottle Gnomes to gain 3 lifepoints.”

A healthy MTG player economy also just doesn’t work IMO without reprint sets. We have 4 UB sets this year and not one reprint set. That’s too much.
