*Every time I tell a NON-economist about this, they say “Cool! So each state has its own Fed?”
*Every time I tell a NON-economist about this, they say “Cool! So each state has its own Fed?”
On Wednesday I am giving a seminar at the Minneapolis Fed. Every time I tell an economist* this, they say one of two things:
(1) “Really? [You??]”
(2) “Oof. Good luck.”
Neither of these responses has bolstered my confidence.
Recently I started a Substack about economics and decision making.
You might like it! Your students might like it! Your colleagues might like it!
New post today in which I try to define economics (lmao) and show how it can help you choose things (like beer)!

A lot of crazy stuff in the Education Department’s letter but did Trump just make it illegal for schools to be test-optional?
I really enjoy grading. To be fair I work in a great context for it. My classes are like 25 students max and I have essentially complete autonomy over my assignments.
But I also loved it when I was grading 200 Principles exams at UVA. I like the puzzle of figuring out what answers count.
#TeachEcon
I am getting more engaged on here and looking to help. I created a #Teachecon starter pack but want to make sure I didn’t miss anyone. Here is what I have so for, please share with reply with who I missed

I’d love to be included!
I love grading. And it is more fun when it’s something you wrote yourself!
But then I wasn’t included in the “Fun Economist” starter pack so…a mixed bag overall.
I've made a starter pack for the Economics of Networks! 🕸️ This includes economic and social networks and wide range of methods: applied/econometrics and theory. I'm sure I have missed a lot. Please DM/reply with others, including self-nominations.

Yeah it was highly fair.
👹 yes!
When I set up VSCode on my new laptop, I chose the deep red background and my husband called it “sociopath behavior.”
Woke up to many new followers (👋🏻) so I thought it might be a good time for a picture of my dog, Luke.
I’ve made a Women in Econ starter pack (s/o @vinisingh.bsky.social for sparking the idea!). Share, follow, and comment below if you’d like to be added! go.bsky.app/LqBPkQZ

This project is joint work with Ben Harrell, Melanie Fox, Nakul Kumar, Daniel Lee, and Gina Pieters. I’ve learned so much from working with them and I’m very excited to share this work with you all. We would love your feedback.
Are you trying to get an academic job with a strong teaching focus? Are you advising someone who is trying to get such a job? Come to session 1.B.01 at Southerns on Saturday morning at 10:45!
This week I will be meeting with a firm that has data I would like access to. I believe it will be mutually beneficial if they share their data. I know that some of you on #EconSky📉📈 have some experience with this. What is your advice?
Sometimes you have to wait to hear yourself on Marketplace because the episode drops in the middle of Baby Bath Time.

Almost daily 😂
Me, a person who learned Python to do math, using Python to do data science.
On the one hand, the code ran for 16 days. On the other, the code ran for 16 days.
Just made the move from EconTwitter, so it's intro time! 👋
I'm a PhD candidate at UW-Madison. My research interests are in the economics of education and education policy (mostly higher ed), labor economics, and public economics.
Oh, and a shameless plug that i am on the job market this year 😉
Our education school (BU Wheelock) will shortly be starting the search for a new dean.
I love working here and am excited for our future. E-mail me (edecjosh@bu.edu) if you have ideas of potential candidates or if you yourself want to learn more about our institution.
