Been trying to figure out the best chip and board to use to program the SPI chip on my ASRock Rack AMPONED8-2T using the BIOS_PH1 header.

I’ve decided on the NUCLEO-F767ZI for now since it seems capable and affordable for anyone wanting to do the same.

Wow, what a week!
On Wednesday morning I joined a livestream on the Arm Office Hours.
I don’t do presentations or live speaking: I think the last presentation I gave was in 2016 and that was just to my team. So going live with 40 people was a big deal for me! Everything went well!

i would suggest an online safety act that can’t deal with CSAM on a widely used social network frequented by most westminster public figures isn’t doing a very good job of keeping anybody safe online

Judging from the last few days of vitriolic comments and messages, it seems that me referring to Israel's occupation and blockade of Gaza as "genocide" is quite controversial and I've even been accused of antisemitism. So let me explain myself: 🧵

I didn't just decide this based on my own feelings.

Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.

Just got reminded of this week in 2017 when I had my rack delivered. 😂

“Look what got delivered on Thursday! Now I just need to take it apart to get all 300lb down to my basement. Oops!”

Speeding up the kernel testing loop When I create kernel contributions, I usually rely on a specific hardware, which makes using a system on which I need to deploy kernels too ...

I just learned about the Linux tool "powerprofilesctl launch" which runs a command and pins the power profile to 'performance' while it's running (by default - you can also tell it to pin the power-saving profile).

Ooh I’ve not heard much about coupling since university when we learned ‘high cohesion, low coupling’ - then I went to work writing .NET apps where the main UI class had lots of public methods that got called to update controls from all over the place. 😖

It is worth learning indigenous and endangered languages, even if they aren’t “useful.” We don’t make art because it’s “useful.” We don’t meet a friend for coffee because it’s “useful.” We do these things because they enrich our lives.

It’s probably complicated by the fact that the cars do score very highly in crash safety tests. Also, unfortunately cars from other manufacturers are being built with these electronic door mechanisms too. Hopefully the manual latches are more logical though.

No, glass-breaking vehicle escape tools do not work on laminated windows One-third of new cars now have laminated side windows, making escaping in an emergency nearly impossible.

Unfortunately it might be the result of a regulation requiring laminated glass in all windows to reduce ejections in rollover crashes. The 2020 model she drove had a manual door release on the inside (but a button on the outside).

Back windows on new cars are often laminated glass due to a new regulation (in the US) to reduce ejections in rollover crashes. I checked mine and all windows are laminated so I’m giving away my window break tool since it’s useless!
