We must prepare, we must study because the people that are prepared perceive opportunities more easily
It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office.
Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc.
Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.
7) Build your network with fellow leads (refer them to your companies!) and future, ambitious devs 💪🏽
8) And most important: give a little back because we all got support when we started out
4) Stretch your prioritization skills by helping get to an ambitious MVP in a few weeks
5) Engage those creative muscles by helping brainstorm and make the project standout from the rest
6) Refresh your awareness of the tech landscape by trying new tools

Before I ever thought of being a software engineer, I was studying wealth disparity as a concentration. CS majors do not have enough liberal studies yet are paths to immensely privileged roles. We cannot be apolitical when we contribute so much to how the world works. We must pay attention and care
a lot of all of this fuckery we're seeing boils down to "i don't want to be forced to acknowledge the existence and humanity of people who are different than me."

a good part of me thinks that in addition to everything else, the reason they are scrubbing these stories is they do not want disadvantaged kids to believe they can aspire to anything other than their designated “black” or “hispanic” or “woman” job
Don’t just say DEI as if it’s a bad word. Spell it out.
Say diversity, which is the lifeblood of American society & culture & innovation.
Say equity, which a just society should pursue.
Say inclusion, because decent people believe in increasing belonging, not isolating people who are different.
