What would happen if the U.S. failed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and the Houthis in Yemen closed the Bab al Mandab Strait, as they did last year?
Claude says this is a Iranian oil refinery
“Honestly, it’s embarrassing. We know this guy is incompetent. I wouldn’t feel safe leaving Pete Hegseth in charge of putting together a DoorDash order.”
I can’t help but feel like if about a dozen, maybe two dozen, political elites and billionaires bit the dust America would be in a significantly better place right now
It's extremely clear that the US doesn't really have an objective here except to inflict maximum pain, and attacking water supply is going to end catastrophically for the entire region. It's not just a war crime, it's approaching a crime against humanity.
Hitting desalination plants is so bad. Not just evil but strategically incomprehensible. Without desalination 75% of the entire population of the Middle East will be refugees. Israel and Kuwait depend on desalination for 90% of their water and other Middle East states aren’t far behind.
The Gulf states & Israel depend on water desalination to live. If Israel & US break the taboo of bombing vulnerable desal infrastructure, they risk catastrophic harm.
Percent of drinking water from desal:
Israel: 80%
Kuwait: 90%
Saudi Arabia: 70%
Oman: 86%
UAW: 42%

The US bombing of a desalination plant could be the most catastrophically consequential action so far.
I really hope Iran does not respond in the same way.

It’s already happening. Iran attacked a desalination plant in Bahrain.
This war has to end immediately. If it turns into a water war we will be dealing with a whole different level of a humanitarian catastrophe across the region.

This is one result of the 7-year-long, £10 million Chilcot Inquiry: a comprehensive, detailed & crucial guide to avoiding another disastrous war like Iraq. You can understand why Tony Blair ignores its lessons, but every other warmonger in the UK?

The evaluation section of The Good Operation has several incisive questions, including
"Will people judge that you did all the rights things, whatever the outcome; or that you clung to a plan when it was failing, and when you had clear evidence it was failing?"
Not just the nth confirmation that BrewDog was not quite the right-on enterprise it claimed to be, but also another illustration of why and how carbon credits and PIUs are a godsend to grifters.

Putin is pulling out all the stops to try to keep his best EU asset, Orban, in power.
The same Russian team which tried to interfere in Moldova's elections is now in Hungary, and the next 5 weeks are likely to get very ugly.
Expect even more unhinged statements shortly.🤡

Ellison and Weiss say they want to return CBS News to the center, arguing that it had moved too far away ideologically from the majority of the US. Asked about how he would run CNN, Ellison said he would stay out of day-to-day operations, but thai the network would follow CBS' recent model.
Calling bullsh*t on this ‘we are just moving cbs back to the center’ excuse for actually taking a very middle of the road news org and making it more right wing. I mean come on. CBS left wing? That’s code sometimes the WH reporter asked hard questions & 60 Minutes does stories Trump doesn’t like…
Yes. Propagandists propagand. And CBS is now a Right Wing propaganda outlet, like Fox & the huge Sinclair network.
He really thinks it's this easy.
Trump saluting a flag-draped casket carried by soldiers, wearing his standard ill fitting suit and a white baseball hat that says USA in gold letters visible from space
I think it's great that the president put on his most solemnly branded baseball cap to receive the returning coffins of soldiers killed in the unnecessary war he launched to distract from his failing presidency and pedophilia scandal.
Look at that gold-like letting. Classy as shit.
But Obama wore a tan suit once
This is how liars lie (and how I call it out).
“If you saw an economy teetering on the brink, the only advice I’d give the administration is don’t do anything rash… don’t do anything silly.... I have a feeling that advice may have come a week too late.”
This is a major victory for those suing Kari Lake and USAGM, coming a year after the ruthless destruction of the Voice of America, a beacon of US public diplomacy as an independent broadcaster in nearly 50 languages. Only a façade remains in a few languages, pumping out administration propaganda.
