We are $5 billion/year short of our needs in TB research. This curable, preventable disease can be eliminated with concerted, sustained attention. The current toddler- tantrum approach is, shall we say, less than helpful. #TBSky
I'm pleased to announce i've a new paper published. It's a review on dengue diagnosis I did the searches for. It's part of the @lshtm.bsky.social FIEBRE project www.lshtm.ac.uk/research/cen....

Sepsis is one of the most frequent causes of death worldwide & yet in many LMICs we have no or low quality phenotypic diagnostics to guide our therapy. This is particularly problematic in the context of neonatal sepsis where ESBL Kleb pneumo is often implicated. @lshtmamrcentre.bsky.social
Molecular cartridge based diagnostics have been a game changer for TB diagnostics - why can we not do the same for blood cultures?

The Involvement of Lived Experience Experts On the Atlas, LEEs have: Simplified language to ensure inclusivity and ease of understanding for all users Contributed to designing a user-friendly platform for quick and intuitive navigation Been actively involved in pilot testing, influencing meaningful changes like enhanced website accessibility. Brought unique experiences and valuable lived experience to the project, significantly shaping its direction. Quote: As a black African, this project helped me communicate what the mental health landscape looks like where I come from - which is sometimes stereotyped and misunderstood. Lived experience advisors remain critical in understanding mental health in communities working towards decolonisation of the understanding of mental health and wellness. Quote: Lived experience has the potential to tailor mental health research priorities, and this project gives a perfect example of research co-production.
