Cardiff managed the closing stages well after our try. We didn't do nearly enough in the game to win.
Disappointing because it was a chance for squad players to lay down a marker and they didn't.
Losses happen but there has to be a minimum level of performance.
Ruben Moloney aside nobody was good today for Leinster. Didn't offer anything . Not the first time we've made ourselves easy to play against.
Felt like the bench would be important but didn't expect 4 forwards to come on before half time, plus a HIA replacement at fly half....

Still, for a small island with only 4 professional teams and a small population and other major sports, the fact that we've consistently been in the discussion for the best in the world over the years is impressive, especially considering there was a time where 2nd in the Six Nations was a victory.
Making it past an RWC quarter-final would be the watershed moment. Despite huge wins in 2015 & 2023 they've been the consistent let down.
That's the next frontier.
We take it for granted but Ireland have punched above their weight over the past 12 years in men's Rugby.
Plenty of downs (RWCs) in between but 5 Six Nations titles, 2 Grandslams, and Wins over everyone.
A far cry from the years of struggling for one notable win in a campaign.

That's a massive win. Good for the competition too to have an upset so it'snot a precession.
I'd hope it grows into a full Celtic League type comb with all 4 Irish provinces and Welsh and Scottish sides, it wouldn't benefit anyone to have the Irish sides hammering everyone every week.
Result may have put a damper on Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's birthday weekend....
