I was today years old when I learned one Lt. William Calley (of My Lai infamy) got his ass kicked by Marines in Vietnam after he called them "soldiers." This happened just a few months before he was summoned to the U.S. to stand trial on charges of murder.
Twenty years in two wars and somehow, despite all our efforts, we’ve learned nothing. The Yosemite Sam ethic remains supreme. We deserve whatever comes.

That’s actually a fair point; it’s very likely it’ll be restored. Like you I don’t care for histrionics. That said, optics are a thing. So is symbolism. If rhetoric coming from the WH is perceived to be anti-democratic, then it’s in their interest to get ahead of that narrative.
Instagram users are reporting their profiles are being forced to follow Trump, Vance, Melania, and others. Some have unfollowed them only to find the same profiles refollowed later.
Apparently, the Constitution has been removed from the White House website. Take from that what you will…
