Watching this Trump UN speech, I don’t think it’s possible for a man to fellate himself more without actually removing a rib…

I was today years old when I learned one Lt. William Calley (of My Lai infamy) got his ass kicked by Marines in Vietnam after he called them "soldiers." This happened just a few months before he was summoned to the U.S. to stand trial on charges of murder.

Twenty years in two wars and somehow, despite all our efforts, we’ve learned nothing. The Yosemite Sam ethic remains supreme. We deserve whatever comes.

The Trump World Order In the MAGA vision of the national interest, might will make right.

I'm an unabashed George Packer fan: "He’s ridding himself and the country of restraining codesβ€”the rule of law at home, the rules-based order abroadβ€”and replacing them with a simple test: 'What’s in it for me?'"

This is especially true when the president just pardoned 1,500+ members of a mob who attempted to subvert a constitutional process at his behest.

That’s actually a fair point; it’s very likely it’ll be restored. Like you I don’t care for histrionics. That said, optics are a thing. So is symbolism. If rhetoric coming from the WH is perceived to be anti-democratic, then it’s in their interest to get ahead of that narrative.

Instagram users are reporting their profiles are being forced to follow Trump, Vance, Melania, and others. Some have unfollowed them only to find the same profiles refollowed later.

Fun fact: I've got a thing for hard-boiled crime fiction. This was a lot of fun to write. Thanks to the saints at Shotgun Honey for putting it up!

Takeaways From a Times Correspondent’s Return to Afghanistan Here’s what he found.

Harkins and Westy want their war back... "By blindly trampling into places they did not understand, the Americans seeded hatred. Errant airstrikes not only killed innocents. They killed American allies β€” the very people who supported them the most."

In 2016, SoftBank promised Trump a $50b/50k job investment. Today, they promised a $100b/100k investment. Call me crazy, but it feels like they just doubled the number for the Egg Prices crowd and called it a win.
