These cultural celebrations remind us what makes District 30 special - our incredible diversity. In our schools, cultural awareness and inclusion shouldn't be afterthoughts but central to how we educate. When children see their cultures valued and represented, they thrive. #LauraForCEC30
This year we celebrated Holi with our Jackson Heights community! My husband has many happy memories from celebrating in Kolkata with his family. Joining other families and throwing pigment was especially meaningful as we shared this holiday with our children.

I believe every child deserves to feel safe and valued at school. When policies threaten this fundamental right, we must speak up. That's why I wrote to the principal at my child's school. Our children deserve the truth, protection, and respect.
It's one of the better theme songs and my kids start dancing, so it's pretty fun. Or maybe the sleep deprivation of early childhood did something.
Thank you so much! I want to make district 30 schools a place where children can be themselves, without fear. I hope that the work done in cec30 will be an inspiration to the other 31 districts in NYC!
My experience leading our 130-unit co-op through the pandemic has taught me valuable lessons about governance, fiscal oversight, and making sure all voices are heard.
Election runs April 25-May 13. More info coming on how eligible parents can vote.
My vision:
β
Champion policies where every student feels safe, welcomed & valued
β
Advocate for equitable resource distribution
β
Ensure all families have a voice in decisions
β
Support programs celebrating our diverse student population
β
Maintain transparency with our school communities
π£ EXCITING NEWS! I'm officially running for Community Education Council District 30! π£
As a Jackson Heights parent and co-op board president, I'm passionate about ensuring our schools serve ALL our diverse communities equitably throughout District 30.
I'm at CEC 30 monthly meeting and I'm thrilled to support resolution 189 "Affirming the status of NYCPS as a welcoming citywide district for all students" and resolution 190 "Affirming support of CRSE and Gender-Affirming Schools and Opposing President Trump's harmful EOs.

Happy to announce that I'm contributing to Griot, a microgame anthology coming this February.

Dang, you know the spot is a family owned place when the voices are raised over expediting a large pizza order.
So.. I just realized that I've never seen the second half of Balanchine's The Nutcracker after the sugar plum fairy.
Watching it with my toddler was an exercise in deepening frowns. Coffee and Tea were not what I expected at all.
I'm inviting an amazing friend to Thanksgiving. She asked what time would be good and I said "drop in wherever, I'm going to resume cooking after the Macy's parade." I also realized that I never had a concrete time for Thanksgiving dinner starting. I straight up started to to panic.

Majestic really did a number on me in 2001.
Today our strategic raisin reserves were devastated when the toddler rained them upon the kindergartener. It was an act of retaliation for stealing the green bouncy ball. Clean up efforts were hampered by secondary stealth water bottle attacks.
Jumaane Williams is probably having a very good day.
As a parent of Blindian kids, it's a weird time for half of America to learn about biracial people.
