I'm really into fountain pens, I picked up a fine and extra fine Pilot Kakuno which have quickly become my favourites. I also use a dip pen, using a tachikawa g nib and sailor ink. I really enjoy the natural line variation you get with a nib, it feels like a proper craft.

I realised something today, I needed to give myself permission to make a shit comic. I've been so wrapped up in making it perfect that I've completely stalled. Now I can just get going and embrace the ugly for the sake of progress!

I guess that's why I asked, because I don't think it matters.

I sometimes feel that even when no ref is used, the visual memory an artist develops is akin to a kind of ref. The ref of experience, which is so individualistic.

But I appreciate your explanation, and I completely see your point
