One last hurrah. Why not! ๐ญ
The Farmerโs Almanac will cease production after 2026, having been fully replaced by Ted Cruz, Americaโs leading cold-weather skedaddler and #1 Worst Canadian Ever.

Another data point indicating that Polymarket is not a โprediction marketโ but a public persuasion operationโhere it spreads disinformation about Minnesota and DHS signals boosts the disinformation:
"...transfer stewardship of the NCAR-Wyoming Supercomputer to an appropriate operator..."
And who could that appropriate operator be? Certainly not the universities cutting ATMOS programs? Who could ever want a fuck ton of weather data and why is it Peter Thiel? www.nsf.gov/news/intent-...

I need a linguistic perspective on the Epstein emails. Where are the threads on this? Why do they all "talk" like that?
I think its pages related to the page you're currently browsing. On meteorology, I get: "outline of meteorology" "timeline of meteorology" and "weather"
6) So WHAT DO? Connect with your community IRL. Balance your online info diet with offline time. Pay attention to who gains power and who loses voice when billionaires start buying the public square.
5) Lack of tech literacy + mystery algorithms + AI slop + government overreach == perfect storm of both extreme trust AND distrust in what people see online and who is behind it. Information disorder scales up in fascism.
4) When ppl don't understand how algorithms or platforms work, they invent explanations. From my paper: users construct folk theories about the way platforms work. Expect a wave of speculation about "what changed" after the deal (even if nothing did!). Go search "blocking Oracle" on TikTok.
3) The deal details are still unknown. A takeover by Ellison doesnโt necessarily mean the algorithm will change.
Given his recent comments about โkeeping the masses subdued,โ itโs fair to worry what โcontent moderationโ might look like under new ownership. Media consolidation is always dangerous.
2) This connects back to my CHI 2025 paper on how people perceive โstickyโ and โstubbornโ content on their FYPs. Spoiler: itโs incredibly frustrating for users โ and those frustrations reveal some deeper things I want to address:

Super excited to present at #TSRCONF at @stanfordcyber.bsky.social this Thursday!
My poster, Weathering Trust: Credibility Formation in YouTubeโs Weather Info Ecosystem, explores how โweather influencersโ have become criticalโyet largely unregulatedโsources of safety information. Come say hi!! ๐ช๏ธโ๏ธ
Came here to ask this question exactly. The data suggests covid is more prevalent/severe compared to the flu. why "all" for flu and [limitations] for covid? This continues to reek of politics unfortunately.
1000% agree with doing this IRL! It's hard when it feels like the sense of community, in general, is so fragile. We have a lot of work to do.
A straggler thought after yesterday's #NWAS25 digital-first sessions and this morning's #helene content: post-disaster misinfo is out of control. we have elected reps actively theorizing weather-control machines (wouldn't that be nice?). Question is: How do we push back? Esp. online?
Bluesky will break today. ๐ญ
Like I said, September is *busy* but I am VERY excited to attend #NWAS25 (remotely) this upcoming week. Looking forward to the digital meteorology panel tomorrow as this topic is pretty squarely my dissertation project (from an HCI, influencer, and platform policy angle). ๐ฆ๏ธ๐ช๏ธโ Fuck yeah, weather!
September is starting off crazy busy/chaotic. But not as chaotic as #SpiderJesus๐ฅ Today at 1:30PT/4:30ET I'm presenting (remotely) a preliminary work on #AIJesusSlop at #4S2025. Dive deep into observer theories and how this slop is so much more than #spam. See ya there! ๐
Exhausted by the news cycle. Here is System of a Down on the first day of their tour at MetLife Stadium. #soad

Fantastic read. "There's no social media equivalent of a WEA alert that's sent out to all mobile phones within radius."
NEW: After Oregonโs record-breaking fire season in 2020, lawmakers wanted to map out which properties were most at risk. But anger from homeowners escalated quickly.
- MTG really has people believing this is "weather modification" ๐
I'm not a meteorologist, I'm a social scientist (studying #wx comms). A few things can be simultaneously true re: #tx #floods:
- trump admin should have never defunded NOAA, but
- NWS was staffed & issued watches/warnings just fine
- Ppl don't check the weather at 3am!
- we cant predict everything

Sometimes the newsday demands a timeline cleanse. ๐ฎโ๐จ
I feel like they're missing a few other totally mysterious cases that are not at all related to helium or hydrogen ๐
Very concerned by โYโall Watchesโ on weatherwiseโฆ the idea that these are areas that the weather service may be considering warnings is not OK. There is a substantial risk for confusion with weather service products. Add that our watches are not short fuse polygon products. That is warnings.
