I recently became acquainted with "Osanaetoki Bankokubanashi" η«₯η΅΅θ§£δΈε½εΊ, a Japanese illustrated history of America from 1861. The retelling of the revolutionary era is quite something. Here, for instance, is John Adams wielding a sword in mortal combat with a gigantic serpent.
Alfred Brendel was the first pianist whose name I registered and, when I was 14 and barely knew the meaning of βinterpretationβ, the first one whose recordings I bought because of the performer rather than the composer. I still love his Beethoven sonatas. RIP.
