In my younger days I viewed everything through a math lens, bc I was a math major and my brain was locked in on that. Coming to understand *how* historians do their work and reach consensus is eye-opening. Is it fuzzier than x= i+1? Sure. But it's a great deal more accurate than bayesian chat bots.

The dude existed, historians are broadly accepting of the fact that someone named Jesus existed in that time frame. The miracles and woo is likely myth, but there was a dude.
