Why do I have to pretend that I'm going to print something in order to save it as a PDF. Why do I have to engage in a little ruse.

Wait are you in Japan or are they finally bringing these to the states? I have been chasing the high of gogo curry since I came back from Tokyo.

If you ask a white person "how's it going?" And they respond with "it's going" that roughly translates to "contemplating killing myself."

My depression is a lot like my house.

I put bright multicolored lights on it during the winter months in order to call it “seasonal”.

A comic of two foxes, one of whom is blue, the other is green. In this one, Blue and Green are walking somewhere. Though Blue is clearly annoyed by something, he listens calmly as Green talks.
Green: Eventually the other monk spoke: How could you pick her up? You've broken your vow to not touch a woman." And the first one, who had already forgotten the whole thing, replied: "I put her down on the other side of the river. But you still carry her everywhere you go."
Blue: ...Is this about the idiot who honked at me after not using their blinkers?
Green: I forgot.

Remember, Scott Adams won't see your posts focusing on his late-career bigotry, but J.K. Rowling might.

I’ve been trying to build a following over on another page for my writing and I am surprised at how much people here engage with and boost what others create… it’s still slow going but it feels much more organic.

Here is a video of a frozen creek that had begun to thaw, and the water was flowing beneath the thin ice on top. I took this because it was soothing and wonderfully bloopy and I wanted to listen to it for hours. You are all welcome to enjoy it, too. Let your brain settle here and rest for a moment.

recently my friend's comics professor told her that it's acceptable to use gen AI for script-writing but not for art, since a machine can't generate meaningful artistic work. meanwhile, my sister's screenwriting professor said that they can use gen AI for concept art and visualization, but that it won't be able to generate a script that's any good. and at my job, it seems like each department says that AI can be useful in every field except the one that they know best.

It's only ever the jobs we're unfamiliar with that we assume can be replaced with automation. The more attuned we are with certain processes, crafts, and occupations, the more we realize that gen AI will never be able to provide a suitable replacement. The case for its existence relies on our ignorance of the work and skill required to do everything we don't.

they didn’t leak it to make the shooter look innocent, but to make the victim look guilty. not guilty of a crime. guilty of having a visibly queer wife. guilty of liberalism. guilty of opposing the regime. they don’t seek to exonerate themselves, only to demonstrate who deserves to die.

I tried to do the “slide down the bannister” thing kids did in movies. My banister wasn’t slippery so I just fell down to the second story.

Landed on my head but somehow broke a thumb. No other concussion or injury.

The Gods really do keep an eye out for the stupid.

After the week I’ve had, this has made me feel so much better.

This is what people are supposed to be. This is how we are supposed to be.

Why do so many terrible things have to happen when there is so much good like this in the world.
