If the arrows had acted as the hands of an analogue clock, one arrow would be always going backwards. Not only this but the motion would be extremely slow and be hardly noticeable. (Clocks move very slowly)
Our clock design stayed true to this idea, meeting at the bottom representing 30 seconds and at the top, on the minute.
Obviously it is an implied motion - not something that was ever visualised (except perhaps in some adverts in 70-80s).
Gerry Barney’s Double Arrow logo is a simplified birds eye view of two tracks with two ‘trains’ (arrowheads) travelling in either direction and ‘meeting’ (possibly at a station).
