I was crushed when I
i) got to teach the Gilgamesh Epic, but
ii) realized none of my students would get the reference to the Darmok and Jilad episode of Star Trek: TNG where Picard recounts it to the alien captain.

Matt Dunstone's team wins Canadian men's curling championship. First for Dunstone and third Colton Lott. Fourth for second E.J. Harnden in his final Brier with his brother Ryan. My @cdnpress.bsky.social sports report, Paul Daly photo. #Brier2026 #curling

Kevin Koe couldn't have done it better
yeah, the format seems unfair when a team can go 2-1 against an opponent...and lose. It's impossible from a ticket-sale and tv perspective, but it would be fairer to say that if Team A beats Team B in i) the round-robin and ii) the 1-2 game, Team B has to beat them twice in the final.
I think you've just hit on a premise for a great sci-fi short story
Usually it's ooey-gooey-Koe, but I'm not sure that's better
Blandest...not blanket. Thanks autocorrect
He's the blanket, most robotic curler alive...who also pulls off the most ridiculous shots on the regular
Never leave Kevin Koe a circus shot to absolutely ruin your life π₯
Kevin Koe is ON ONE this week π₯
Geez, what a shot by Kevin Koe.
Vic has been test driving that one for awhile
I remember him missing a wide open draw to anywhere in the paint to lose a Canadian juniors...and wow what a career from there
Looked like that last shot in 6 was Gushue's team missing the tolerance on that shot. Freeze back 4 was fine: guaranteed the force. Crashing up high probably loses you the game π₯
Gushue isn't quite dead yet π₯

β¦and proud of it
wow, two awful throws by McEwen to knock himself out of the Brier. Tough to watch π₯
Yeah, I know it's tough to win if you're tied playing 10 without hammer, but against a team in its first Brier, a steal seems like a better possibility than making that shot
It's a lot of fun skipping when all of a sudden your vice decides to play lights out for the back half of a game. Steal-steal for the win π₯
Nominative determinism at its finest
I'm glad they won, but I confess I'm looking forward to rooting against them at the Brier
Hardie makes that straight back one on his 2nd rock 9 times out 10, I think
re-watching the 9th end, and I think the two key shots were Hardie missing the straightback double, followed by Kennedy making the perfect hit and roll behind the corner.
I guess you could say that Kennedy had...perfect touch on that one *ducks* π₯
I could probably stop this CBC Gem stream that's just showing a static shot of the arena with techno-pop music blaring in the background, but I'm not sure I can get off the couch yet π₯
I like to move it, move, now blaring through the curling rink π₯
yeah, didn't mind Jacobs erring on the safe side on that shot for 4. Overcurling and only getting 1...or really overcurling and giving up a steal would have been disaster
I need to rewatch that 9th end to figure what happened. π₯
juuuussssssttttt good enough for Jacobs π₯
Not sure if we need curlers or Dr. Stephen Hawking to figure what's going to happen with these rocks here π₯
first time I skipped my high school team, I think I hogged 4 draws
