This is how we will get through this time together π
@rhappe
I enjoy the absurdity of humanity. Perfect is boring. Things to say about communities, tech, culture, leadership, L&D, and social dynamics. Writing a book titled Control Is for Amateurs. Founder of Engaged Organizations. Prior, The Community Roundtable.
This is how we will get through this time together π
I want to build a .org tech stack and suck the oxygen out of the current tech h industry by designing ecosystems that support healthy communities, including individuals, local journalism, civic participation, and small businesses.
Who is thinking about this that I should connect with?
The killing of Iranian children during an illegal war is an impeachable offense (not to mention a grave crime) and Congress should really act like it.
15 Republicans in the Senate could end this nightmare before it somehow gets even worse.
I think I have hit peek GenX cred.
My husband took my daughter to practice, leaving two of her friends in our kitchen, seemingly perfectly comfortable hanging out here without her.
Given the crap state of the world, I am taking this as a win.
My daughter had her last end-of-term exam today. She and three friends are hanging out in the kitchen, chatting and laughing.
It warms my heart.
The kids are ok, thankfully.
I have not forgotten.
We need a purge - and arrests.
It makes me viscerally ill. Iβm about to get on a call with a European and I am just embarassed at this point (the call has nothing to do with politics)
What a clown car.
Hard not to laugh, and yet, it is staggering that this is the level of professionalism the President has, which is to say⦠none.
Colonialism is a horrible thing. Billions of people in the world justifiably loathe the U.S. because it has destroyed countries, millions of people, and cultures.
As Americans we accrue lots of benefits for which we do not pay the full cost.
This is so wrong.
I played Oregon Trail on DOS in the mid 80s. I would walk a mile to school early so I could play with Logo on the Apple IIe in the school library.
I built social networks before Facebook arrived.
But also, I am too old and female to know much about technology π€¨

I am old enough to remember when⦠he was a pariah.
Thatβs what Iβm talking about
Iβm sorry - itβs awful.
Ding dongβ¦
β¦couldnβt happen fast enough. And yes, when this reign of absurdity and grift is over, weβll be coming for you.
It is so damning of US news media that so many outlets refuse to just straight up say that Senator Tim Sheehy assaulted an activist.
He did not "help" Capitol police. They did not need his help. He wanted to assault the guy and did. He should resign.
I had gallstone attacks annually for ~20 years because my first attack, in my 20s, was dismissed.
I told this to a male friend recently who had recently had his gall bladder removed, and he was in awe of my pain tolerance.
Exporting school-shootings.
There is nothing to be proud of. Nothing.
yowza
Given they seem to know exactly who they are going after and spend exorbitant $$$/valid deportation, is advertising really needed at all?
Pure grift.
We donβt have to live like this.
It wasn't "cancel culture" when women and people of color got used up, silenced, and dismissed before their careers even began. It only became "cancel culture" when powerful abusers started having established careers momentarily inconvenienced by revelations of what they'd done.
I have yet to see this turd behave in a way that justifies him taking up any of our time and space.
To me this individual/group balance of power is what distinguishes both good vs toxic relationships and communities vs cults.
Differentiating what is yours, mine, and ours is a critical human skill and I wonder how many people are actually good at it.
Humans need to bond with other humans so I obviously get the peer pressure and co-created reality.
But it seems healthy people (and that is likely the issue), are centered and grounded in themselves and have their own moral compass. They can explicitly choose where their boundaries are.
This is so disgusting.
I do not understand how so many people are so wrapped up in others psychologically.
Like donβt they care more about themselves? Isnβt there enough to work on without worrying about what other people are doing and their choices?
I think I must be odd.
Republicans have been is disarray for months - they are now well beyond disarray.
Combustible? Suicidal? Deranged?
We need a new adjective.
Huh.
Who amongst the thousands of experienced professionals serving in the federal government could have possibly projected this?
We thought it unlikely, so we didnβt ask. It would have been inconvenient.
What even is the point of βmainstreamβ media?
Wasnβt he arrested? And rightly so because he violently broke a persons arm. A veteran at that.
