Screenshot of Apogee. Jade and Kaguya jumping around in a forest area. There is red bamboo and a slime enemy behind them.
The camera is zoomed out enough, I think, but it still just feels a bit cluttered.

Tileset from my game. It has purple rocks and red grass.
I feel like my tiles are too noisy, I like the detail, but it may be too much. I should probably just have it be 1-2 colors. Maybe also figure out how to have the grass stick out of the grid.

gamedev's great because it leads to you needing to read random articles about The Moon's orbit and you get to call it productive research.

this is epic
Every Tuesday I listen to a new album, and this week's was:
winnowing by forest spirit, sun on your back
First album I've heard from this artist, I liked the vibes of this one, chill but still pretty upbeat. Lyrics were great and catchy.
Fav. Track: not your cat
Jade and Kaguya from Apogee standing on a rocky surface. Jade is looking at Kaguya shocked and perplexed, while Kaguya stands normal.
I've been working on some other stuff as of late as a refresh from Apogee
Silly goobers

yeah
Finding it difficult to get the exact motivation for the antagonist in Apogee down. I have the rough ideas and end goals, but getting all the little details right is hard!

You ever try to write an uplifting story, only to look out into the real world and see everything that's happening

I love Colorgrave, Curse Crackers is one of my favorite games ever, but I had no idea you guys were making another game until the previous post. I will be checking out the demo when I get the chance.
Wojak pointing at their shirt that says "I love vagueposting" with a "Never elaborated award" on their shoulder
Developing prototypes for things that will never exist

i love my silly lil indie bands
Multiple times now working with extensions and such where the only way to get help is to go into a Discord and hope someone sees your message or messaging the developer directly. It just does not work.
why have we as a society accepted Discord to be a normal alternative to documentation and not as the worst possible way to get information

Every Tuesday I listen to a new album, this week's was awakebutstillinbed's chaos takes the wheel and i am a passenger.
I quite enjoyed these songs, it feels more refined compared to their first album, vocals and instruments were on point. Love me some long songs.
Fav. Track: bloodline

You can play the game on Steam:

The protagonist of Panoptia running through an apartment building with eyes floating around her.
Dialogue from my game, Panoptia. It says, "I don't like thinking about those memories a lot."
Screenshot from Panoptia. The player is in a mall area, and there is a mysterious shadowy creature standing in front of them. It has a beak and a glowing eye.
Screenshot of Panoptia in a forest area. There are paths going in 4 directions, with a tree in the center, and a black cat sitting at its base.
Today's Panoptia's 2 year anniversary! Surreal to think about, I feel like I was just working on it yesterday...
I learned a lot making Panoptia, Apogee's code is leaps & bounds above Panoptia's. It also improved my writing & art, I think.
Proud of the story I told.

Surely I wouldn't be so foolish to develop a side project that is similar or possibly larger in scale to my current game... right?

Screenshot of tiles from my game. There are purple rocks with red grass growing on them.
Why must tiles be such cumbersome and fickle beasts...

Screenshot of Apogee with debug information covering the screen. The world is a void with a few tiles and leaf piles around. Jade is falling on the right, Kaguya is below her just off-screen.
... progress?

maybe a game made with less schmovement breeds more schmovement...

I didn't really understand DaVinci either, as much as I hate Adobe, I do really enjoy the workflow of Premiere Pro and After Effects. I can't imagine a trailer in RenPy... that seems interesting ๐
hey i know those guys
Messed up world we live in if this is considered good progress
