As a scholar, teacher, mentor, and community leader, Bob was always incredibly smart, funny, and, most importantly, kind. He was one of my biggest champions from the moment I arrived at Rice. A huge loss for the discipline and the Rice community 💔
I’m particularly grateful for all of my amazing students, for the leadership of @bashleyleeds.bsky.social and @racheltk.bsky.social, and for the mentorship of Randy Stevenson. I'm also glad to have met wonderful friends, like @jkaslovsky.bsky.social and my co-author @gdilandro.bsky.social!
After three wonderful years, today is my last day at @ricepolisci.bsky.social. I’m so grateful for this amazing experience, which helped make me a better teacher and scholar. I couldn't have asked for a better place to launch my academic career!
Thank you for everything you've done for me, the department, and the students! Your leadership, mentorship, and support have meant a great deal to me as I started out my academic career!
End of an era 🦉
Some professional news: after 8 years in Texas, I’m heading back east. Starting in July, I’ll be an Assistant Professor in the Department of Government at Smith College! I’m going to miss my community here in Houston, but I’m very excited for this new adventure!
