Yeah, still happens from time to time, I'm just glad it isn't as prevalent as back in the day
You cannot have a meaningful Dungeon Meshi campaign if strict rations records are not kept.
The level of seemingly malicious misinformation was off the charts, I don't blame my old self for showing that as a gut response
(kinda funny to refer to my, already transitioned, self from 5 years ago as my "old self", crazy to get old, heh)
The Pf2e community kinda bred the "Pf2e advocate" figure in response, I myself would sorta act like that for years
Just stop and think about how fucking bonkers someone ever becoming an advocate for a table top RPG is, what kind of fucked up context would ask for that to exist
There were a whole collection of communities who had a whole collective fictional idea of a game that didn't exist so they could hate it
The level of specificity of the bullshit was itself funny and fascinating
People complaining about touch AC when the game ostensively didn't have it
About multiple stacking modifiers when the game ostensively didn't have it
About vertical progression feats, yeah
Like some nerd ingroups sometimes just decide that is cool to be incurious and anti-intelectual about a particular thing by vibes alone, but they can't ever admit that
And Pf2e was that for some 3 or 4 separate TTRPG tribes for different reasons
Remembering the time before the OGL scandal in which 90% of social media online discourse regarding Pf2e was by people who never played it, or even read it
It was infinitely annoying, but I confess I still have a morbid curiosity about as a social phenomena and why it ever happened at all
I'm still bitter about how about a year ago Gurbintroll released the 4th edition of Dark Dungeons, for free, as a labor of love, like those old times in which open content was seen as important, and absolutely nobody from those crowds gave a shit, since it is not that marketable
That's the good shit
I'm very live and let live about it, some clearly love it so let them have it
I just find annoying having to scrub through infinite material about the wibbly wobbliness to find the stuff I actually want to engage with
As long as they can run open source office and editing programs (and they can) you can already save yourself from some serious pain in the butt
Even if you don't have one, those can be bought for fairly cheap still, grab one
I know that the whole push towards ending home computing is a thing, but don't panic too much too early
Many of us have a semi-abandoned laptop from 2016 that can be easily refurbished and have linux installed on them
Hold on to them, they are going to be important
Só vem com uma peça da que ele usou duas para os olhos
Ele roubou nos olhos thou
Pode ter vindo uma extra pra ele, mas não pode ser reproduzido de maneira confiável
I don't think that there's anything wrong with that, but it is the absolute opposite of what I want to do with old D&D
Which is exacerbated by the original games they make, usually boiling down to the "you're level 1 forever, your rolls will never surpass 16% success chance, avoid interacting with the system, you don't roll to hit anymore, there's only one save, your character has no identity beyond itens" etc
The way the principles crowd seem to forever play the harsher interpretation of level 1 forever, erasing more than 90% of the game, and never actually interacting with what actually makes it an unique and flavorful makes me feel like we simply have two completely distinct hobbies
Sometimes I wonder if retroclones that don't really adhere to the "OSR principles" should get a new name to distance itself from them
The principles crowd discourse takes too much oxygen and they don't seem to actually like old D&D all that much anymore, if they ever did
Gotta love when a sexy bunny suít anime figure still looks perfectly in character
That expression alone would love love tenkyoken me to death
I don't hate the new look, but it's a shame that derivative art that absolutely should be considered fair use is so hard to pull off if you're small
That explains why they refused shipping that thing to me back in the day, at least
Can the rulebook still be ordered anywhere? I checked the modiphius site, Amazon, and eBay, to no avail. I want to get back into the game, but don't know where to start. Can the book still be ordered anywhere or was it some weird limited print run kinda thing? Response from the author: The initial print run is sold out! I'm working on updating the illustrations for a rerelease that should be a little easier to distribute to a wider range of markets with different IP laws. I'm not sure exactly how that'll go yet, but hopefully I'll have more news soon.
Old look with classic minifig
New look with less lego like minifig
So, trying to find a copy of the Brikwars physical book I discovered the reason for its limited release was international ip laws
And now the author is basically stripping the classic lego minifig from the game, a shame that this is needed, oh well
One month later and that pic is still carrying my self esteem
I see that push to treat every industry as software as a service, even when it clearly isn't even close to it, everywhere
They were so certain they would be able to jam everything into that little box
It turns out, surprise surprise, they weren't
I know some people are already going for conspiracy theories that they planned this all along
They didn't, they had tons of people warning the executives that an edition with no name was a bad idea, but the execs where so high on perceived power that they simply didn't listen
Honestly I find the D&D 5.5 situation very amusing, and in a way, refreshing
It's nice to see corporate speech being forced to bend over to actual, real life, considerations
I can only hope the AI bubble will face the same fate soon
