Reading Bets by @carrotquinn.bsky.social
Highly recommend! So far it's ππ comically, tragically and beautifully accurate and resonant for the times (and for a fellow 5'7", queer, anxious virgo π) imo, this is required reading for 2025!

I just went backpacking in KofA in Arizona. The bright sun here is like a pressure washer to my depression. And I keep coming up with ideas for the sequel to BETS. Yeah a few techbros died violent deaths in BETS, but in the sequel I'm gonna go full George R R Martin on their asses. I can't wait.
Ah I'm glad yoy like this! :)
An excerpt from Carrot Quinn's substack: "Iβve been cycling, and then re-cycling? Through what feels like the stages of grief, as my brain turns itself inside out looking for answers, some sort of answers. If only there were answers! To literally anything! Ever! Amirite? And then that is where I always land in the end- there arenβt any answers. If Iβve found anything to be helpful, if only for a moment, itβs to keep zooming myself out- grabbing myself by the metaphorical suspenders and yanking myself up off the ground, where Iβve been laying on my stomach in the moss, staring at the tiny minutia of one single, perfect, (dying) flower and crying- pulling myself up and then up, and up, into the sky, until Iβm out in space looking down at the planet and saying to myself- in all of human history, there has never been a time that could be described as βchill and restfulβ. Ever. Thatβs just what it means to be people, and you signed up to be people so, here you are. Suck it up. "This helps for a moment and then Iβm in the moss again, crying about the flower. So it goes."
I'm reading @carrotquinn.bsky.social's latest and wanted to share this little bit. What a brief and beautiful power the zoom out is.
Finally got my book the other day from @carrotquinn.bsky.social and I canβt wait to read it!!! And everyone should buy it and all of Carrotβs other books π
I hope you like it! :)
Hi bluesky! I wrote a new novel, BETS- it's about a young person fleeing a collapsing city in the near-future US and riding her bicycle across the abandoned desert southwest in search of others. People really like it so far!
I'm glad you liked it! :)
Here are some cozy dogs for my inaugural post
