For @mikerobe.bsky.social, science is more than a search for answersβitβs a chance to guide others along the way.
In a Q&A with Scripps Research Magazine, he shares how he mentors young scientists and studies innate immune cells that protect barrier tissues like skin and gut.
Antibiotic use in early life impairs MAIT cellβmediated immunity in adulthood, say Gabrielle LeBlanc, Adam Sobel, Michael Constantinides (@mikerobe.bsky.social) and colleagues @scripps.edu: rupress.org/jem/article/...

Research from Assoc. Prof. @mikerobe.bsky.social's lab identifies a probiotic-based solution to antibiotic-linked MAIT cell depletion. In preclinical models, pairing necessary antibiotics with a riboflavin-producing gut bacterium restored MAIT cell development during a key early-life window.
Excited to share research co-led by Gabby & Adam in @jem.org! Grateful to the NIH & @scripps.edu for support.
Thankful for this talented group!
Nice to catch up with fellow @belkaidlab.bsky.social alum @michelenamorado.bsky.social in sunny San Diego!
Mini golf to celebrate my promotion to associate professor. Grateful to the past & present trainees that made this possible!
Beautiful image! Congrats πΎπ₯
Congratulations! πΎπ₯
Our work co-led by @scripps.edu students Dominic & Jonathan shows that microbial tropism determines how metabolites are presented to #MAIT cells!
Congrats to @scripps.edu PhD candidate Dom Haas, who was offered a Canada Graduate Scholarship, the highest doctoral award from NSERC! π‘οΈπΎπ₯
