Wanted to like it, but I'm coming to the realization that Nestore's designs don't appeal to me. It is so opaque. Extremely difficult to wade through the murky lake of mechanisms to find out how to play well. One of my friends, a strong player, had zero points going into the final stage. Not for me.

Only played solo so far, but I enjoyed my first exposure to #FrozenFrontier by Andrey Kolupaev and Ivan Lashin from Cosmodrome & @arcanewonders.bsky.social. Great mix of multi use cards with resource mgmt, area control, and top notch art & production. Looking forward to diving deeper!

No problem. Just to be clear, I still think itβs a good game. Hope you like it.
Solid game. We all enjoyed it. However, after 2 plays, I found that I liked a few similar games better, so Iβm unsure when this would hit the table.

A comic featuring three people discussing board game challenges. In the first panel, a person excitedly says, "I did it! I completed all my BGStats challenges this year!" They list challenges like "10x10," "Alphabet," "Play 10 games from a specific year," and "Playing every game in my collection." Heinze looks over his shoulder in awe. Rachel responds, "Impressive! You missed one though..." In the second panel, the first person looks shocked and asks, "What?! Which one?" Rachel replies, "The 'just play the games you enjoy' challenge!" In the background, Heinze holding a tray with tea looks with a slight grudge at Rachel, while the cats sleep peacefully on a table.
How many board game challenges did YOU complete this year? Did you tackle a 10x10, an alphabet challenge, or something else entirely? π€ Or maybe you just focused on the most important one: playing the games you love. β€οΈ

I have. I had high hopes. They made some things better (cute puzzle pieces!) and other things worse (so much negative interaction π’). Overall, I was disappointed. Iβm keeping my Majesty.

Itβs solid. Itβs pretty impressive how much worker placement tension they devise with just one worker each and only 5 placement spots. Recommended!
I really enjoy Concordia. Iβm actually trying to find a copy of Venus. However, this play wasnβt great, so thatβs why it didnβt make my highlights list.

View of a finished board game with the central element being a 3D simplified cardboard replica of the Flatiron building in New York City.
Building the iconic #NewYorkCity skyscraper in #Flatiron by Shei S. and Isra C. with art by Weberson Santiago from Ludonova. Itβs a worker placement engine builder with some nice tension.

Yea, itβs a very popular genre currently and I recognize Iβm in the minority.
Iβm glad you liked Windmill Valley. My disappointment is likely a combination of A) my high expectations, and B) I have a low tolerance for long/involved tactical games.
Barrage is my favorite game! BGA is definitely not the place to learn a deep game like that. Say the word and we can play.

You say that as if you havenβt played it yet?! Please tell me your friends havenβt let you down by not showing you this gem?
Yea, I think everything just costs a tick too much, especially the ladder. The ladder is such a cool mechanism, but itβs almost a red herring with how punishing it is. This last play was won by the player who didnβt move up the ladder at all. π
It was my 4th or 5th play of Alma Mater. Iβm a huge fan of Italian games and therefore have huge expectations for them. I really really wanted to like this one (and I do like a lot of it), but overall itβs too slow and too punishing.
