The ACOE has a horrible record on its dredge projects. A 2013 Miami Port dredge that the ACOE estimated would kill 3.3 acres of coral ended up killing 278 acres of coral reef - gone forever - per a 2023 NOAA report.

How wonderful! I have loved having so many bluebirds (from 1 family) throughout the winter. Can't wait to see if my current pair are going to nest in my backyard house before The Interloper tries to snag their house again this year.

More water left in the aquifer, less PFAS & other pollutants in the Savannah River. It's a win-win. Hopefully, whomever purchases it will decommission it - altho that can still bite you. See also the Georgia Pacific mill in Taylor County FL that wants to resume discharging during decommissioning.
