All true, but it doesn't hurt to write interesting and compelling books, either.

I will never get over Bush v. Gore.
Meanwhile, in Vermontβ¦
People are getting gassed for protesting ICE. Yep, thatβs still going on. America sure is great, isnβt it?

The president of the United States took Air Force One to Kentucky today to try and unseat a congressman who exposed a child rape ring involving the president and his friends.
How the hell does that get such normal ho-hum coverage?
Oh thatβs just Trump. What a rascal.
βThe three judges on the panel β whoβd all been appointed by Republican presidents (two by Trump and one by George Bush Sr.) -β had dissented in 2024 when the majority of the 4th Circuit declared the West Virginia law invalid.β
It's a congressional duty, not a potential political strategy.
democrats still seem to be laboring under the delusion that they can introduce stuff to pass while trump is president and they, not trump, will somehow get credit for it. they learned nothing from trump taking credit for covid stimulus checks
Several tables are set with individuals behind them waiting to be served. The tables have signs β Education, Sciences, Arts, Healthcareβ¦ no one is serving them. All of the servers are delivering piles of money to the table where WAR is sitting. Political cartoon is from the 1950s Nothing has changed.
It has been this way since time immemorial.
Spending a billion a day on a βnotβ war.
Meanwhile, all you suckers can starve, die because you canβt afford healthcare or find new treatments for disease. And who the fuck needs education and arts?
We arenβt mad enough!!
It is THE fundamental problem. To survive and prosper we must make billionaires history. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
To restore democracy and create a fairer, safer, greener world, we need massive taxes on the ultra-rich. As in the 1940s. People get confused about this. The main purpose of such taxes is *not* to raise revenue. The point is to stop the few dominating the many. It's an essential democratic measure.
When the president discards the Constitution to rule as a dictator, and Congress allows him to do so, the Constitution of 1787 has ceased to exist. That is where we are now. Any new settlement, whether allowing the president to be a dictator or not, will by definition be post-constitutional.
& if the administration acts in a manner that contravenes the constitution and both Congress & the Supreme Court fail to take action, then you no longer have a constitution.
Impeachment is not a strategy, itβs a duty.
This has been true, of course, for decades. But the people making decisions over those decades have been delighted to keep our energy supplies reliant on a turbulent and distressed part of the world. And calling those of us who see the problem cranks.
Every ICE officer who has broken the law should be arrested, tried, and imprisoned for their crimes.
I get yelled at for saying this but for many hundreds of years people went to university not to get diplomas or be employable but because immersion in the humanities was considered foundational to a good life, and school must return to its original purpose: the joy of learning.

MAGA is the most toxic, hollow, phony, grifty, obnoxious, fraudulent, culty, soulless political movement in US history built on lies, hate, paranoia and greed. And as it unravels, so many rats will claim they were never really on the ship.
People used to like to say we are a nation of laws, but if we donβt enforce them then everything is a political question, todayβs status quo. Perhaps the nation of laws thing was only aspirational, but I think we are seeing some excellent reasons to aspire to it.
Citizens showed up tonight for a No-Kings Pop-Up gallery to benefit the #NKfoodpantry Such creativity! Gearing up for March 28. Impeachment is a congressional duty, not a potential strategy. Impeachment is to stop crimes by the president. There isn't any other way. It shouldn't matter how popular it is.
Not punishment enough.
A lot of people say AI isn't very good for the world and its outputs are routinely unreliable, but these haters fail to see how it's revolutionizing how we incinerate schoolchildren.
Hello? Anybody home?
Climate "hushing" and avoidance has allowed Trump and the fossil industry to destroy decades of effort.
Where is the climate movement? Where are the Democratic politicians?
Vast majorities are concerned about climate change.

1. Over the last six months, Iβve been studying MAGA, and trying to understand why it has been so successful β and what the Democrats ought to learn from that success. The results were published in the New Yorker magazine this week. Hereβs what I learned: (a π§΅)

For these things to work at all this has to be true. Donβt use them.
they start wars to use the weapons they bought for billions from billionaires and then say we need to spend more billions to buy more weapons.
The glibness. The indifference. The carelessness. The utter lack of planning for a war against a country of 90M. The sickness of a man who acts on whim that will kill thousands not hundreds. The horror of a regime that enables this sickness. The broken body politic that votes in such malignancy.
