Cover page for Masque Knight Crypt-iD episode #2. Miranda is underwater, reaching for the Thunderbird Para-Disc. Two more Discs float behind her.
Crypt-iD arrives in Paradise City, still on the Nesscycle. The voice from before contacts her through her helmet's comms. As Miranda drives through the outskirts of the "Lower Circle", the person on the other end explains that they'd like for Miranda to continue using the Crypt-iD Gear to protect the city.
They explain that another dimension crossed over with this world some time ago, and the creatures that spawn from that world take on the form of creatures of myth, cryptids and the like. They are named "Figments" by the Foundation. It's the Foundation's belief that someone or something is enhancing these Figments to become powerful and violent, like Arachne in the first episode. Crypt-iD was created to use the Figments' powers against them. The person speaking to Miranda no longer trusts the Foundation.

Crypt-iD lands, tired from the battle. The captain emerges from behind a tree, bruised and cradling a broken right arm. He states that the Crypt-iD Gear should be his, and demands to know who is using it in his stead. Panicking, Miranda runs away, still transformed. She makes for the beach to find her boat, but stops in her tracks upon seeing something.
Miranda's boat is toppled over on the beach, wrecked and full of holes. She's concerned that the damage doesn't appear to be from the storm, but something else... She panics again, believing she can't fly all the way back to the city, but then she spies another boat. It seems to be a Prospero ship. The doors on the ship's container open, and a motorcycle with a reptilian face trundles out and stops in front of her. Miranda remarks that it's "kinda cute", and suddenly a voice responds from it. Someone is communicating through the so-called "Nessycle", and it urges Miranda to get on the bike and move into the water before the Prospero captain can catch up.
In the water, the Nessycle transforms into a hovercraft mode, and Crypt-iD sets off across the sea. She sighs, seeing the sun setting on the city, and thinks to herself that she'll be home soon. Back at the campsite on the island, a tsuchinoko pops out of the hole seen on the first page, before disappearing again.

Now freed, Crypt-iD takes to the air again. She opens and closes the disc tray of the Gear. Her wings spread out and she assumes a flying kick pose. She spins rapidly, creating around herself a tornado of electricity with a familiar bird face upon it...
Crypt-iD launches right through Arachne, and the spider is gone in a massive explosion.

Monster Arachne tries to squish Crypt-iD but she flies out of the way in time. Crypt-iD attempts a flying kick but Arachne knocks her away.
Crypt-iD kicks straight through the monster's hand, destroying a chunk of it. Before Crypt-iD can act further, she's caught by Arachne's threads. As she's being pulled towards the monster, the blades on her gloves spark with electricity and she slices through the webs with ease.

The young woman tears up and introduces herself as Miranda to the Thunderbird. The Thunderbird passes away as a heavy rain kicks in. Miranda wipes her tears, removes her jacket and backpack, and stands determined.
Miranda inspects the items dropped by the captain. She recognizes the technology as unusually advanced. Two of the mini discs have names - "Chupacabra" and "Nessie" - but the remaining discs appear to be blank. She ponders on the possibility that cryptids and myths are real after all. Suddenly, the Thunderbird's body begins to disintegrate and it "fills" the blank disc that Miranda is holding. Miranda affirms that the Thunderbird will fight beside her, and she prepares to read the manual for the equipment.

The Thunderbird bursts open its wings one last time, creating a massive sonic boom that sends Arachne flying into the distance. It then collapses to the ground, its energy depleted. The young woman runs over in concern, thinking to herself "I've been looking for cryptids all my life. I finally find one and it's dying right in front of me... and it's all my fault."

The Thunderbird snaps Arachne's thread. She trades blows with the bird before her hand is struck by a thunderbolt. Taking another swipe, she tells the bird that it isn't "even a true Figment", just an "unrefined beast". She claims to be evolved, and then quickly leaps into the air out of sight.
Arachne is about to stab the young woman with one of her legs, but the Thunderbird gets in the way. Left with a huge hole in its chest, it stumbles before its eye suddenly flashes open, to the BA-DUM sound of a heartbeat.

Dark clouds converge and there is a rumble of thunder. Arachne approaches the young woman and thanks her, stating that the fear she produces upon her death will provide "such exquisite fear". She attacks. There is a loud "SKREE!!!" sound, and the woman opens her eyes to see that the Thunderbird has returned and blocked Arachne's attack. The bird has Arachne's thread caught in its talons.

The spider woman introduces herself as Arachne, an emissary of the "Four Terrors". The captain looks at his dead men, and then sets down the briefcase and opens it. Inside is a set of devices, a manual, and a label stating "Property of Prospero Foundation".
The captain looks at the mini-discs inside the case. The names "Chupacabra" and "Nessie" can be made out. He chooses the Chupacabra disc and it electronically announces its name. The captain, looking confident, raises one of the devices and the disc and declares that Arachne has met her match. Before he can make his move, though, Arachne rushes over and kicks him, launching him right through a tree. The woman from the beginning of the episode has been watching the battle from the cover of a different tree, but her scream alerts Arachne, whose eyes suddenly turn in her direction.

The creature deflects blasts from the weapons, then suddenly jumps down to earth with a crash. She is a slender woman with dark grey skin, with a prominent motif of spiders and webs. She appears with spider legs retracted into an abdomen that doubles as her "hair".
The spider woman stands up straight and we see she wears a mask. She has eight eyes, and carries a long thread. A soldier approaches her, his weapon charging up, but she deftly leaps backwards into the air. The soldier looks on horrified as the spider woman lunges toward him, slashing with the thread. Two more soldiers lose their cool and begin firing wildly, and the captain yells at them not to show fear, implying something bad will happen if they continue to do so. He then watches as the spider woman slices and stabs the remaining men.
