So today I have applied for a job. My latest assignment for my course was graded and I have now completed the first unit.
I still have Battenberg cake.

Back into the frayβ¦
At least thereβs cake.
It is of course ALL gf π
Anyone fancy a brew and a slice of cake? I baked muffins to use up bananas. Bought GF carrot cake muffins because they were yellow stickered. Baked a Battenberg because itβs the king of cakes and my birthday. Got free cake in Costa. Daughter got me a piece of my fave cake from our fave cafe today.
There are but none with the pay and employment benefits I currently have and sadly those things do matter. Iβm more than keeping an eye out for options now though.
I am looking, itβs tricky because almost every other option I can envisage means a drop in pay, I just need to find an affordable option which Iβm sure I will if Iβm meant to.
Thank you, Iβm looking and Iβm sure if itβs meant to be something will turn up. It was just a bad start to the day, not a bad day. Son is taking me out for tea π
Thanks Paula. Not enjoying work at all but liking even less the βjust leave, lifeβs too shortβ advice givers π‘
People who can just walk away from toxic work places are very privileged. As a single income household without a degree education, donβt know how, when or even if I can leave my job but I was in tears (again) before 7:30am (and on my birthday) something needs to change.
Any sensible advice welcomeβ¦
A view through a narrow covered ginnel. The road bordered with large setts. The path curves to the left, the walls on the right a mix of rendered, stone and concrete.
There are lots of little ginnels and back streets here to make an otherwise mundane walk around the block that bit more interesting.

A sagging cobweb covered in pretty little rain droplets stand out against a darkened, soft focus background of rusty autumn bracken
Water droplets on a cobweb caught my eye on my walk at the weekend.

A bike is partially in the frame facing the view out across grassy coast which leads out to a bay, a channel of still water with sand on the other side
Got up and went out on my bike this morning before that persuasive voice in my head had time to talk me out of it.

A snazzy white logo reading Boom Dang on a red top. The letter o in Boom represented by drums
The season kicks off today with a double gig Saturday

On the left a staircase with a fancy iron balustrade. The main focus of the photo is a sign on a wide stone column which reads cigarette ends and match stalks must not be thrown on the floor.

Most of them did haha.
Tractors are huge nowadays, the majority of the children could stand in the rim of the back wheel.
A group of adults pose on and beside a large green tractor wearing animal themed dressing up outfits
World Book Day. Love this team π
Me and my team are very excited for #worldbookday this year. As a class we are celebrating βDriving my Tractorβ by Jan Dobbins. Staff are all dressing up as farm animals and an actual tractor is coming to school.
Not that we are competitive but we are so going to outdo all the other teaching staff.
A path winds ahead bordered with dry stone wall. A dog walks on the path. The view in the distance is over a small town and out to sea across Morecambe bay, and a hazy sky with a hint of palest pink
Evening walk over the hill before tea.

A single track lane stretches ahead with dry stone walls either side. Steep grassy fields over the walls. A few trees ahead and a grey sky
A bike leans against a dry stone wall. Over the wall a view of tree covered hills, buildings below seem tiny from this height
Sundays are for cycling. Even in Winter⦠Just need to keep it up.

A photo of a puddle on a quiet city street. Two yellow no parking lines curve around the edge of the pavement. Reflected in the puddle is the curved building of Manchester Central Library

Manchester Central Library this afternoon
I really do like travelling on the train but if a journey is important or I have to be somewhere for a certain time I wonβt risk it anymore. Delays and cancellations are the norm here now. Iβd be stuck if I didnβt drive.
Well, how that goes this weekend remains to be seen on Sundayβ¦
And they want us to reduce traffic on the roads and emissions!
Iβm feeling very cross, think I need to put my phone down and go and have a cup of tea.
So I am just home from the 2 hour round trip to Lancaster so daughter could get a train and not miss her weekend away. Her Β£27 ticket has actually ended up costing her Β£ Β£86 π‘π‘
She will argue for a refund but even if she gets it the standard unreliability of our rail service here infuriating.
Connection at Lancaster well and truly missed now. She tried to save a few quid on the Lancaster to London leg with a saver option but that was a non refundable ticket not valid on any other service.
RANT INCOMING. The rail service in the North is an absolute joke. 30min delay on daughters train, not yet a problem. Train arrives but then barely made it out of the station due to βtechnical issueβ 20mins later was taken back to the station! No further trains getting through there then.
A school photo. 3 rows of children tiered at different heights, two adults stood slightly behind the back row. The backdrop is a display of child crafted flowers and butterflies. 3 Hymn sheets hang over the display, these were used for assembly.
Lovely chat going on over on FB thanks to me posting this school photo from 1979!

Cleaner arrived at school this morning to find a gull that had somehow managed to get locked in overnight! As the next one to arrive, and braver than the cleaner, I carried the poor thing outside. #heroineoftheday
Thanks. She is very photogenic though which helps π
