Spent Saturday with two students, Iona Rohan and Morgan Monroe, that I coadvise with Jennifer Frey in central NM-- tons of wind energy development in the last two years. We've been studying how terrestrial mammals respond to wind energy development. Stay tuned for Iona's findings later this year!
Research conducted by academic and government scientists is aimed at the public good. This is how society ensures assets like clean water, abundant wildlife, and an understanding of our solar system. This letter to congress is signed by societies representing almost 100,000 scientists.
It is heartening to read news like this. I have so many questions though! Was this rediscovery due to better survey methods? Are the birds increasing due to the control of cats? Did they increase on the island or did they disperse from another island?
