Was fun to talk about how Pokemon has irreversibly ruined my brain from a young age with @nintendolife.com!
Apropos of nothing, one of my favourite Cassette Beasts monsters I designed is Pombomb, illustrated here for our key art by @smaiart.bsky.social! It ended up as something of a mascot for the game.
Continuing to be absolutely floored by how @denizcamp.bsky.social's Ultimates comic series both understands, and rises to meet, the current moment. The unreality of the comic's own world as a mirror to our own - brand consumerism won't save you; better pick up a brick instead.
It's fantastic.
Message received loud and clear Mr. Camp sir

goes insanely hard
I think "remembering the gamecube" did that already
I mostly experienced these via friends at the time because I also got on the Gamecube horse as a kid - no regrets there, but when you tally it up on paper the PS2 has probably the strongest game line up we'll ever see
Another aspect is also how fast technology was improving - the jump between FFVII and FFX was 4 years!
"why are younger gamers disinterested in following premium console game releases like I was at their age" can be partly answered by the fact that if you were a PS2 owner in the 2000s you had 3-6 of the best games ever made come out annually, and since 2020 the PS5 has 3-4 big sequels and little else
We can do it
it's within our power

I give it 6 months before games start having splash screens like this

Cheers Ben!
The weathering is really good fun, I do recommend!
Couple of photos I found of some gunpla kits I painted some years back now
Thanks! I don't think I ever nailed the restrained use of Typhus Corrosion the way I did here, but it became a model painting staple for me forever after it.

If you're in game dev or tech there's many archetypes of Guy, but one of my least favourite is definitely "Guy who is good at programming and has tricked himself into thinking this makes him an Actual Scientist, and now posts regularly about how he uniquely understands the decline of society"
We should stop letting people think that if you clock enough hours in Unity you suddenly become George Carlin
Spoken to a few people about this and there is absolutely *no-one* who feels like the PS5 has had a good run and on its way out. It feels like it's barely started - the entire generation has had less killer apps than the PS2 would get in a single year!

Game writers can't get enough of the word "corruption"
Happy early Valentines day to my "Castlevania husband + Silent Hill wife" couples out there

"I hope this new hobby brand you've recently gotten into gets discontinued" is weak; lacks punch.
"I hope this new hobby brand you've recently gotten into announces a Harry Potter licensing deal" is much scarier; more realistic; could happen to you.
