I again believe that players should be open to losing and lack of success in games. It’s okay to lose sometimes and loss is a part of stories.
Had to make two for that last post as those are my main thoughts on ttrpgs. I think too many non committal people join long campaigns just to flake on them or not be engaged. That could be resolved by more people playing one shots when they can rather than running five people’s time.
It’s okay to lose the game.
Play more one shots for the love of god! It’s so fun to play different characters and classes and try new ideas. One shots are perfect for people who can’t commit to campaigns too. Play those one shots!

Been playing a lot of Animal Crossing lately in my free time~
I wanted to say that I agree with all three points especially the drama. It’s so fun to have the drama and workshop around it or try to plan how to resolve it. Plus, when stakes get high, the risks can be so thrilling. There’s so much cool stuff that could happen!
They dismiss the experience that the story offers by way of failing to fantasize about only winning and I wish it was not like that. The best tables are definitely the ones who can move through success and failure both with developmental creativity.
I feel like I’ve been hit by back to back tables of weeping willows who crack at the first sign of conflict or by way of missing two attacks in a row. I implore players to face challenges head on and try to creatively tackle story beats rather than needing to win to feel it’s a fun time.
I fully agree with you! Failure can lead to such incredible storytelling, growth, and outcomes. It should challenge the narrative or invite change. I really love it myself, but the current landscape has been so full of players that throw full fits at any sign of pushback. So disappointing.

Just because an artist draws a Black character with braids, or a Black character at all, does not mean that they actually like Black people and we should keep that in mind.
I do understand it’s frustrating to wait for your turn in some games and miss but calling it a waste is very mm, like is it only a waste if you don’t hit? Not the best framing. Of course I love cozy ttrpgs where the story can branch etc but goodness it’s the end of the world for so many to fail
People that play ttrpgs today are so afraid of failure idk that’s very worrying to me. Sometimes you fail and that’s okay. Sometimes you miss an attack or fail a brew. Failing is such an important part of life. If you don’t know how to face it even in pretend, I don’t know what to say.
My biggest battle for my comic is going to be those speech bubbles. I really can’t see so I tend to make mine really big but I want to make them an appropriate size.
