Like he could've just come out of the White House every morning like a cuckoo clock, said something outrageous to make his base happy, then went to golf. And people would call him an economic genius because he grew gdp and tamed inflation. But here we are.

Itโ€™s clear: Trumpโ€™s tariff taxes are killing jobs and putting real pain on Main Street. Americaโ€™s small businesses, consumers, and communities cannot wait. The Trump admin must deliver tariff refunds now.

1. A #measles & #flu update.
We're only 9 weeks into the year & the total confirmed measles cases so far puts makes 2026 the second worst year for measles in the past 34 years.
The worst year was last year. But in merely 9 weeks, 2026 has recorded 56% of the entire 2025 total.
Gonna be a bad year.

DEVELOPMENT OF NEW FUNCTIONALITY IN ACE

automatically re-calculates the duty owed without the IEEPA tariffs (with
applicable interest).
โ€ข CBP verifies the declaration and processes refunds as soon as practicable.
โ€ข ACE automatically finalizes (liquidates or reliquidates) the entries.
โ€ข ACE automatically aggregates the refunds with interest by importer and
liquidation date.
โ€ข CBP certifies the refunds.
โ€ข The Department of the Treasury issues IEEPA refunds electronically.
28. CBP estimates that the automated controls described above will save CBP over 4 million
hours compared with the manual processes it would otherwise have to complete.
29. CBP is making all possible efforts to have this new ACE functionality ready for use in 45
days. This new process will require minimal submission from importers. It will also
minimize errors by ensuring accurate IEEPA refund calculations through system
validations and allowing for a review period for CBP to resolve any discrepancies with
the importer and to confirm no other outstanding enforcement issues or no revenue is
owed. The process will be simpler and more efficient than the existing functionalities,
and CBP will provide guidance on how to file to refund declarations in the new system.

CBP does say it has a plan, though! It's just going to take a couple months for them to stand it up.

CBP puts the blame on legacy IT systems. To be blunt, while these problems may be completely valid, this is entirely the fault of the government.

Stock market tanking again today and oil *way* up. What's crazy is Trump could've just rode out the current regression to the mean on inflation, combined with an apparent productivity boom. Instead, did the opposite of econ 101: kicked out workers, reduced immigration, started wars of choice.

Weird chart. What happened in 2025 in the US? Did political leadership change and then start systematically dismantling education, science, health care, and government, levying arbitrary tariffs, randomly attacking major US cities, and destroying the economy?

Just asking.

Republicans just OBJECTED to funding FEMA, TSA and the Coast Guard. Theyโ€™re holding them hostage to extract more $$$ with no accountability for Trumpโ€™s rogue ICE/CBP operations.

No doubt now whoโ€™s responsible.

Iโ€™ve been asked if I would support Sen. Mullin as Noemโ€™s replacement.

The answer is a resounding NO. The rot in DHS is deep, much deeper than any individual.

Itโ€™s a question of policy not personnel. The Senate should not consider any DHS Secretary nominee until DHS and ICE are reined in.

I took an oath to support and defend the Constitution and my constituents have told me overwhelmingly that they do not want the United States engaged in another war. I will support the War Powers Resolution, H. Con. Res. 38, to make clear that only Congress has the power to declare war.

Also, Trump canโ€™t install a new DHS secretary via Truth Social. Any nominee must go through Senate confirmation and Congress must deliver real guardrails to protect our communities. Senators know what happens when they confirm a dangerous DHS secretary โ€” any nominee canโ€™t dodge public scrutiny.

These tariffs are another tax on working families. They drive up the cost of everyday goods and create uncertainty for Oregon businesses relying on trade. Our economy depends on strong global partnerships, and we cannot afford policies that take money out of Oregoniansโ€™ pockets.

If Trump is serious about ending Noemโ€™s tenure, DHS should immediately reverse her decisions to:

**put ICE in schools, hospitals, and houses of worship

**make it harder for people fleeing autocratic nations to seek asylum

**deprive people of due process

Until then, we will still be in court.

Kristi Noem has done a stunning amount of damage and itโ€™s good sheโ€™s gone.

But this doesnโ€™t change the fact that we need a complete overhaul of DHS, impartial investigations into the killings of two American citizens, and information on children that were taken from Minnesota.

This is a big win. Kristi Noem was a disaster, and people speaking up got her fired.

But Kristi Noem is not the architect of Trump's dangerous mass deportation policies, and we can't let up the pressure.

Fire Stephen Miller.

I just called my US senators and told them to publicly call for Tim Sheehy to be expelled from the Senate for assaulting and apparently breaking the hand of a Marine today.

You can call your Senators, too.

Oregonians are clear: NO WAR WITH IRAN.

The decision to go to war must reflect the will of the people, exercised through their elected representatives. Iโ€™m here to exercise YOUR will, and thatโ€™s why today Iโ€™ll be voting to END all unauthorized hostilities with Iran.
