I’d never noticed the MCR album was set a sci fi dystopia
Is this 2 bands, or 3?
A Wikipedia-style guideline page on avoiding exaggerated wording by LLMs, with two sections titled Undue emphasis on symbolism and importance and Promotional language. Each section lists “words to watch” in a beige box, such as "stands as a testament", "plays a vital role", "rich cultural heritage", "breathtaking", and "must-see". Below, example sentences are shown with problematic phrases highlighted in yellow, including "enhancing its significance", "captivates both residents and visitors alike", "stands as a symbol", "reflects the evolving identity", "vibrant town with a rich cultural heritage", "fascinating glimpse into the diverse tapestry", and "value-driven experiences".
This is really fascinating

In 2022/23 I did some research on #AI price setting algorithms. It's published here:

Throughout the research, models consistently colluded to undermine consumers. I'm hoping to recreate the research with LLMs as the economic agents in the near future.
I understand why people are concerned about space rock 2024-YR4, which by taking the cumulative impact probability of 0.28% and multiplying it by a velocity of 13,260 m/s has an expected damage of 37 m/s. But even more concerning to me is 2016 WN55’s expected damage of NaN!
They found that even with lots of prompt-engineering the results were "so inconsistent that I'm absolutely certain that reviewing + polishing all of the work done by the robots took more time than if we just did every single block by hand in the first place "
@tailwindcss.com sent a newsletter out yesterday describing their journey to add dark-mode to their premium themes. They estimated it'd take them 6 weeks to implement dark mode on their premium themes. They instead used #AI & #LLMs to speed up the process, taking them only... 12 weeks
Also not financial advice.. but check out GamesWorkshop. Mostly well-run business with a total monopoly over their niche and a captive audience - all of whom seem to have massive disposable income.

When you look through Claude's output during coding sessions, you realise that an absolutely unreal amount of energy & GPU cycles are being dedicated to it grepping around the codebase.

The only context I've seen "sandbagging" in is F1 & motorsports. At (public) pre-season testing, teams intentionally slow the cars by adding ballast (the "sandbag" in question). The intention is to hide the true performance capabilities of the car ahead of the first race.
We are opening a new chapter of ClimateTriage.com as part of the GitHub Climate Action Plan for Developers, presented at the San Francisco Climate Week. Together with GitHub, we are joining forces on a common mission: To get more developers involved in open source climate and sustainability projects
I wrote this in an essay years ago: "T-bills can be considered riskless (pragmatically, though not theoretically) as the conditions where the US government defaults on T-Bills are aligned with the total collapse of capitalism, at which point the model is redundant". Hope I was wrong 🙏
