What design decisions do you regret with the knowledge you have now?
From the perspective of βI want to build an iceberg native lake house with the least amount of complexityβ I think it makes lots of sense. Zero copy + simple primitives for agents also feel super compelling.
Only toy projects so far but Iβm building out a 0->1 team soon so itβs under consideration.
I really like what @bauplan.bsky.social are doing
Variation on the XKCD 2347 graphic of software building on each other, showing very unstable tower, featuring sharks biting undewater cables, unpaid opensource developers, AWS, Cloudflare, AI, Microsoft, left-pad, v8, WASM and it is all almost falling apart, but not actually.
If #XKCD 2347 was made today β¦

@juanlu.space
there was always so much JavaScript tooling to get your head around. Now I have zero headache getting my environment set up or navigating those initial few build errors. Syntax was never the hard part of programming or system design. Also why Iβm so excited by @tessl.io and spec driven development

Ex-Palantir peeps feel strongly about the formal definition of this, this article points to how the whole flywheel needs to be built around this mantra.
In many cases people are mostly using using the term because it sounds cool, Palantir included.

Conceptually is that different from HTTP? The miracle is getting people to agree on how not what.

People tend to have families in their 30s, set up roots and pay taxes for the long term
Thatβs semantics, the upshot is the corners are cut, food prices are a race to the bottom without regulation and the food that consumers purchase in the store is of worse quality.
The key argument repeated frequently in that study is that antimicrobial treatments must not replace good hygienic practices in poultry processing. The US doesnβt enforce that part to nearly the same degree, chlorination today masks bad practices.
Point to those studies
The FDA has a lower bar for many foodstuffs, e.g. chlorinated chicken, so your groceries are dominated by the lowest common denominator. Youβre also going through a wave of further deregulation.
Which part?
The standards are lower in terms of the Ag policy partly protectionist, partly legit health concerns eg high fructose corn syrup, chlorinated chicken, battery farming. America can simultaneously have great cuisine options and comparatively poor grocery standards.
A visualised DAG for notebooks would be really cool too
Where does one sign up to that list?
