Cloudflare is down, in yet another example of why 5 companies should not control the internet.
Itβs still hard to grasp that there arenβt 4 GOP Reps (who will otherwise be forgotten forever after retiring & likely defeated next year anyway) arenβt interested in going down in history as all-time πΊπΈ heroes by caucusing with the Dems & giving them the majority to impeach Trump & save the Republic
will pay people to read Hayek and Rothbard. That will be pretty expensive.
The point of work is to make people suffer for money. Until AI feels pain, it will not replace humans.
When robots and artificial intelligence can do everything humans can, it will still make sense to pay people to pay attention to you. For example, artists will pay people to consume their work.
I can not use this app with such a silly length limit.

"it's been a long time coming"
this is a team effort from dozens of people over many years, and they all deserve huge credit
still, a shoutout to @sebmarkbage.calyptus.eu who did much of the initial design on 7 (!) of these projects and convinced everyone else to work on them for a decade

It will. People love socialism and hate capitalism.
This is a list of events that have occurred in America in the last six months. How would you describe it if you saw it in any other country?
I wrote something else, but hey, I don't want to be reply guy. Carpe diem.
Am I understanding correctly that the protocolβs main goal is to make it safe to use a low-entropy, human-memorable password for recovery? Wouldnβt it be better to require strong passwords instead? Thank you
Rules are essential. To enforce rules, we need rulers. Classical liberalism/libertarians/ancap are against a single monopolistic ruler (e.g., the State). Without competition, people can not choose what works for them. That's actually the main point of classical liberalism: it's against monopoly.
When people think about classical liberalism (both libertarianism and anarchocapitalism use that methodology) without going deeper, they believe the State enforces rules which are helpful for society, while silly libertarians want to have no rules. That's not true.
I think we met at local-first conf, did we?
First, "The libertarian dream of a free-for-all" There is no such dream. free-for-all is exactly the opposite of it.
We all are :-) I just wanted to say you misunderstood something. Have a nice day.
That's a straw man. The libertarian dream is a free choice.
The only thing worse than a "social network without filtering" is a social network with "filtering" I disagree with. I'm all for content moderation if I'm free to choose.
A black and white close-up shot of Professor Brian Cox, an astrophysicist, is shown with a quote from him. He is looking directly at the viewer with a slight, contemplative smile. His hands are clasped together just below his chin. The background is dark. The quote, in white text against a dark purple background, reads: "Real scientists are delighted when they find out they are wrong. And to me, that is one of the greatest gifts that a scientific education can bring. There are too many people in this world who want to be right. And too few who just want to know." Below the quote, also in white text, is his name and title: "- PROF. BRIAN COX, ASTROPHYSICIST". In the bottom left corner, there is a small logo for "LONG COVID ADVOCACY" which features an open hand symbol.
π A timely reminder from Prof Brian Cox
The inability of the scientific & medical community to move on from the rehab model for #ME & #LongCovid stems from the simple issue that they don't want to be wrong.

I wanted to watch a movie with my kids (1, 3, 5), and I finally found something that we can all watch. Great story, educational, we stuck with it until the end.

The rest of the post is in images because of the silly text limit here.
It reminds me βThe lack of imagination is the biggest challenge we face when fighting for a freer society.β

It seems itβs possible to hack MLS for local-first. I canβt believe they designed MLS to be centralized so much.

In such cases, doesnβt that conflict with FS and PCS? Is there a meaningful way to apply these properties without sacrificing the ability to restore all data? Iβd really appreciate any insights.
