There's tons of accounts like that that spew endless fake reports. One friend shared one about how DIck Van Dyke was related to Alex Pretti and such, and that account had dozens of fake BS about Dick (he was on life support, he donated millions to some charity, etc).

I just paid $3.85 in Phoenix at Costco. They were under $3 a couple of weeks ago.

Likely AI chat response received for Fans of Connie Willis facebook account.

"Between Doomsday Book and To Say Nothing of the Dog, readers generally find To Say Nothing of the Dog to be the more emotionally uplifting overall. It has a lighter, more humorous tone, even while being clever and thoughtful, which tends to resonate especially well during the holidays"

Her last message really read like an AI opinion and didn't really ask for a response, so I left it at that and never heard any more from them...

Of course, now that I'm the one posting her political posts to facebook, I'm getting a different type of strange messages...

I ended up having an overlong thread as Connie Willis' webmaster for someone wanting recommendations one what book to get their sister for Christmas. I made it clear I was not Connie, and gave her some recs, but she just wouldn't stop asking more questions about the books and such.

Maybe someone could write a script to automate the process?

I was a latecomer to GEnie, mainly due to Babylon 5 activity. I was a Sysop on Compuserve's SFRT. Paying for access by the minute to be there.

The Magrathea BBS running on an Atari 800 at 300 baud for me. I was also a Sysop on the Compuserve SFRT forum. Via usenetarchive dot com, I can look at my earliest posts on usenet...

Textbooks have material that is acceptable to the most conservative states, so the entire country gets that skewed view.

occasionally I get pushed on the question of - why did you choose to write about an empire? why doesn't your book series interrogate the legitimacy of empires? aren't all empires inherently illegitimate?

this is kind of a funny series of questions, to me.

That definitely surprised me. Although I imagine if I had watched True Detective, it might not have. Definitely sets a certain vibe for the series.

Here's a couple of them...

I ran into Wil Wheaton at Powell's books in Portland one time and he recognized me first.

Also, when I was hosting Jim Butcher at an author event, I accidentally knocked him over.

Looking forward to seeing you and Martha and all the other authors in Tucson in a couple of week. No idea if they will mention you in the local Tucson paper, though. You had @johnpicacio.bsky.social to boost you and Martha in the local paper in San Antonio.

I've always been an advocate of scheduling panels like that back when I was doing Phoenix ComiCon....

That second requirement is a pretty tough one. What if you are down with the fascist, but aren't willing to work hard?

The Day After - Wikipedia

They did a TV movie about what would happen where I grew up in Kansas. Filmed a lot of scenes at the University of Kansas where I had just recently graduated. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Day...

I didn't see this one listed yet...

Generals and Majors always
Seem so unhappy 'less they got a war

Calling Generals and Majors
Generals and Majors everywhere
Calling Generals and Majors, hey
Your World War III is drawing near, World War III

The only thing I have signed by Stan is a promo cape for Scifi's Who wants to be a Superhero show. I got to talk to him at a press event for the show at SDCC. He also signed it on top of one of the producers sigs, who signed with a lighter pen. I figure that is rare at least.

We're now stuck at just over $13,000 β€” which feels very unlucky!

Please get us past $14K soon so we can all bask in good fortune <3

In general, imports (from Japan & Europe) were preferred because they tended to use higher quality material.

01.03.2026 16:36 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

I remember some labels had quality issue back in the day. For example, Harvest pressings always seemed noisier, especially when the first track was quieter or had a fade in. Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon was like that, which it one of the reasons I bought a Japanese import of that LP.

Nevermind that this is set 1,000 years from now and language would really be much more different. Plus Caleb has been roaming around the galaxy for most of his life, his accent should be even more varied than it is.

My SO has their account as their first name and last initial (with no period) and gets plenty of email for other people that apparently use the same firstname dot lastname as hers. Phone contracts, insurance contracts, bbc iplayer accounts, etc. Its not that common of a name, either.

If you are outraged about what Kansas is doing to trans peopleβ€” criminalizing their very right to exist, seizing drivers licenses overnight and saying if they drive thereafter it’s a crime, which puts them into the PIC under their gender assigned at birth where rape is routineβ€”I BEG YOU

This is insane. The Kansas Legislature overturned the Governor's veto to make this happen.
