(a) Supply of expensive US ammunition (attack and defense) vs. cheap Iranian drones > attrition.
(b) Effective closing of the Strait of Hormuz over weeks would be devastating to world economy (oil, LNG).

The Trump administration will surely find a way to declare, "This is not a war. It is a military action." (June 2025) This could be challenged if congress had the guts and / or if there will be US forces boots on the ground with requests for funding.
