Opposite end of the county! I just feel there's a lot of shit gets talked about a team that always massively outspends its competition, but still gets talked about like underdogs!

At least you're a real club (currently a bit shit or not) with real fans

There is nothing romantic about the rise of Wrexham - they represent the boot of 'Content', stamping on the face of sport forever. A marketing opportunity, pretending to be a TV show, pretending to be a football club.

Yes, but I need to look into what's required before I promise anything! Just to confirm, it's the buildings I'm planning on selling - there will also be another (wooden, thatched) that I haven't painted yet, but will soon. I'll get back to you when it's all fully finished, if you're still interested

I was quite pleased with the start I'd made on this 20mm Northern French town. However, this will be going for sale soon, due to events.

Because they know that being nice is beyond them - but having a load of plastic surgery isn't

He does not seem to share that same reverence for humanity; his reverence is reserved for the fantastical AGI gods he seems determined to bring into being. This shouldn’t be a surprise. Many of the billionaires at the height of Silicon Valley adhere to an anti-human worldview that not only sees humans merging with machines, but being consumed by them. Altman has paid to have his brain frozen when he dies, in the hope that it can be uploaded to a computer sometime in the future, and has argued that “the merge” — where humans and machines become one — is essential for the future of humanity.

This is all in line with the longtermist worldview, which argues the value of people alive today and people who might live a million years from now are equivalent. If an action today might help ensure billions of people will live in the far future, even if it means harming millions in the present, that is justified under their anti-human calculus. It’s a philosophy that seems to exist purely to justify the science fictional pursuits of tech billionaires while their actions magnify the suffering of billions of actual people. In fact, those future people they envision are not people at all, but “post-humans” who live in vast computer simulations, not as flesh and blood.

Altman’s denigration of humanity is part of a wider anti-human worldview the tech industry has adopted to justify doing whatever they want, regardless of the wider impacts on the public. If communities suffer to realize Altman’s AI ambitions, that’s fine by him.

I really enjoy doing this new wood technique for smaller scale - carving the planks directly into the foamex with a pyrography tool and texturing with a wire brush

I've found it a very enjoyable scale to paint - like 28mm but a quicker and more manageable size (while not being as fiddly as 15mm can be).

Boring wargaming question - spray matt acrylic varnish - what works?

I've always been a paint on varnisher, but I've noticed my W&N Galeria Matt just seems... thinner(?) than it used to be. Making me consider spray anyway.

For reference, I do a gloss enamel first and Matt acrylic over that.

More 20mm Newline Designs Sikh Wars units in various stages of finished-ness.

This is the first time I've painted 20mm, and I am really enjoying it. It feels like the benefits of both 28mm and 15mm (funny that!) Immediately considering what other periods I could do in this scale...

Need to find a source of flags - I don't think they were that different from Napoleonic flags at this point?

I gloss first and then matt them - the enamel gloss protects them thoroughly, and matt acrylic stops them being shiny

Couple of pics from the club's first Historical Games Day - quite a few last minute drop outs, but fun was still had by all.

Should be an event that recurs a few times a year now.
