When we asked DOJ about the missing files on Monday, officials said the only materials withheld were “privileged or duplicates.” In a new statement on Tuesday, the department also noted that documents could have been withheld because of “an ongoing federal investigation.”
The Epstein files published by DOJ briefly mention a woman’s unverified accusation that President Trump assaulted her in the 1980s, when she was a minor. But several key FBI memos related to the woman's account have not been released.

I spoke with Annie Farmer, one of the Epstein survivors who has advocated for transparency. She was distressed by the failed redactions:
“It’s hard to imagine a more egregious way of not protecting victims than having full nude images of them available for the world to download”
The New York Times began notifying DOJ officials yesterday of unredacted images that reporters were encountering in the published Epstein files. DOJ has now largely removed or redacted the images from the government’s online library.
NEW: The Justice Department published dozens of unredacted images of nude women (and possibly teens) as part of its Epstein release.
The faces of those people were also left unredacted.
