“Look, I’m not gonna stand here entertaining these gotcha questions like ‘Why are we doing this,’ or ‘What is our goal,’ or ‘Is there any plan.’ You’ll have all the answers you need when and if we figure any of that out.”

"This administration, which promised common sense and America First, vowed not to embark on namby-pamby woke crusades or get caught up in forever wars and nation-building. Instead, it is proving itself to have the most revisionist foreign policy in American history."
"The active shooter drill has been postponed due to inclement weather." Man, there's a folk song quality sentence.
“However one feels about the neo-liberal world order America has dominated for decades, you needn’t look too deeply into the historical record to understand that when established orders collapse, it means more war, greater economic hardship, and less freedom." www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...
‘Multi-Layered Bullshit’: Trump’s Push for Greenland Makes No Sense
The president’s bid to forcibly conquer Greenland is alienating allies and thrilling America’s supposed adversaries.
There’s a whole thread on Reddit where people are questioning the “space before a question mark” thing and it’s funny as it blames everything from the French, to autocomplete, to Gen Z… so no real illumination www.reddit.com/r/grammar/co...
I use a lot of automated transcription and speech-to-text software for work and most programs have weird random quirks, to put it mildly
Not saying it’s def the answer but some speech-to-text programs or accessibility software will do this sometimes, esp if you have to instruct it to introduce punctuation
I love the people who get on social media and respond to a post with “You shouldn’t have said ABC, instead you should have said XYZ.” Like, no my dude. My account is where I write what I want to write, your account is where you write what you want to write.
You know what you did.
If you're implying that a large number of American voters are idiots... well buddy, all I can say is... yeah, there's actually a significant amount of evidence supporting that claim.
One of the things that really strikes home when you have a viral post on multiple social media platforms catering to different audiences is the sheer number of people on all sides of the political divide who share one thing in common:
They are absolute, unequivocal morons.
I will not pretend to be current every NG unit’s standard rifle. I knew most regular combat arms units in both Army and Marines were generally rocking M4A1s now, but otherwise…
Hmm. Ok. Well, I stand corrected if that’s the case now.
Subject-matter expert here. Most NG units have M4s, which have selective fire with semi-auto or 3-round burst modes. Only special ops tend to have M4A1 with heavier barrel and full auto option.
Hmm. I remember when the KKK marched in my hometown of Denver on MLK Day in 1992 and a crowd showed up to protest them and the DPD tear-gassed and attacked the anti-KKK protesters. I remember cuz I was there. www.latimes.com/archives/la-...
Dammit not the friggin’ zouaves discourse again
Skepticism is warranted regarding anything, especially on X! I do my best not to fall for disinformation, so I’m glad you promoted me to doublecheck
The same post is also on the verified official Minnesota National Guard Instagram account, and its Facebook page. Unless you have better evidence to the contrary, it seems legit.
People seem to think my issue is with reflective vests. It is not. My issue is with civilian officers enforcing laws in a constitutional republic dressed as members of the military.
*bog standard, I meant

Not arguing, but what makes it not legit? Its posts dating back 15+ years seem pretty big standard military PAO comms
I am once again begging Congress for the sake of our Republic to pass a law forbidding law enforcement from wearing military uniforms.
Now the actual military has to dress like it’s not the military cuz federal law enforcement agencies dress too much like the military
Twain ends the essay writing, “And as for a flag for the Philippine Province, it is easily managed. We can have a special one — our States do it: we can have just our usual flag, with the white stripes painted black and the stars replaced by the skull and cross-bones.”

The Anti-Imperialists believed a just republic derives its legitimacy from consent of the governed, an ideal incompatible with the forcible acquisition of foreign lands. They cited the non-interventionism of George Washington’s Farewell Address as a key principle of the US.

In 1901, Twain wrote “To the Person Sitting in Darkness,” a satirical riposte to Kipling’s “Burden.” “There must be two Americas: one that sets the captive free, and one that takes a once-captive’s new freedom away from him... then kills him to get his land.”
