Workplaces have bought into the idea that they are creating engagement this way, but it’s mostly just unproductive output IMO

This is true for me. I am finding that my professional life is so heavily computer-mediated - a complete overwhelm of adhoc messages, tasks, demands - that I have no mental energy for even replying to messages from close friends let alone participating in online communities of practice.

Surveillance tech like Fusus “gives police the ability to surreptitiously spy on and track people of no real or alleged criminal concern. It creates caches of sensitive, personal information that can be retained indefinitely,” EFF’s Beryl Lipton told Sacramento's ABC10.
