I would challenge that. Neither term is neutral or value-free.

Both are relative terms. £6,000 is cheap for a family car, but expensive for a home computer.

Also, you need to consider what return the team will get on its investment - because it is an investment not simply a cost.

I’m thinking that they probably hoped to be refused entry or to encounter hostility or something so they could say “Look! They’re all hateful and horrible!”

But sadly it looks like they were granted admission to the party they had paid to attend.

“Most Expensive”. Not “most valuable”? Is this suggesting that Gibson isn’t worth the price?

It’s “icky” to talk about people in this way, but the financial outlay should lead to increased revenue, shouldn’t it? She’s only “expensive” if the owners don’t realise sufficient return, no?

I assume this is referring to a different "Annabel Sutherland", because, in a straight choice between Dani Gibson and The Annabel Sutherland, I know which one I would give the higher value.

That's true. Still some surprise at the final price, and I guess that is the risk with auctions and why people are so interested in watching them!

I have lots of thoughts about many of the results, but, again, it is the nature of auctions that there will be results that don't make sense.

Agreed (Lancs have Gabby Lewis, but looks like she could be sidelined for Lanning).

I also wonder whether more opportunities could be made in Tier 2 and Tier 3.
